-----Introduction-----

The purpose of this topic is to bring awareness to Armor Games community about Mozilla Firefox. Firefox is an alternative browser to Internet Explorer. Why are we bringing attention to Firefox? Firefox not only works with flash applications more efficiently, it also has a lot of great add-ons that enhance the community (most important is the spell-checker!!!).

-----Mozilla Firefox-----

Mozilla Firefox can be downloaded: Here

Great things about Firefox:

   - Helps you enjoy a better web experience
   - Is more secure than IE
   - Completely customizable

-----Recommended Add-ons-----

1. Adblock Plus - Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.

2. Grease Monkey - Allows you to control bits of Java Script.

3. Faster Fox - Tweaks Firefox to run faster.

4. Customize Google - Just like the name says...

5. Quick Translation - I think this is very helpful for our members who have a little trouble with English. This will definitely help us all communicate better.

6. Fireshot - Enhances how you take screen shots

-----Notes-----

This is just a recommendation to use instead of Internet Explorer. By no means are we trying to convey that Firefox is required to use Armor Games. If you have some more suggested add-ons or questions, please post! Thanks everyone!

*****PLEASE NOTE******

I should have made this more clear in the original post. Please post only recommendations for add-ons. I would like to keep this clear of clutter to it is easy for new members to see the add-ons and not just a bunch of posts about how "IE su><oRz!" Thanks guys!

I've used Firefox for a long time.
Addons I use
StumbleUpon Toolbar - For when you're bored
Temporary Inbox - So you don't get a bunch of spam
TabRenamizer - To have some privacy from people looking over your back
Download Statusbar - I think it's more convenient than the window
Adblock Plus - Mentioned Above
Splash - Just for people with slow computers like me to know if it is actually loading or not
del.icio.us bookmarks - Handy way to share bookmarks
Google Icon - Aesthetically Pleasing
Fierr - Error page replacement.  Personally, I prefer version 0.3 over 0.4.  Just another aesthetically pleasing addon.
Firesomething - Just for fun

Theme
Cobalt Firefox - It just seems clean to me.

I don't like Fasterfox because it hogs too much bandwith.  What it does, if I am correct, on the standard mode is when you visit a webpage, it caches all the links on it (basically clicks on all the links, except you don't see the results).  That way when you actually click on the links, it is already in your computer's history.  While that may help a little, I don't think it is worth the bandwidth.

Another app, Mousegestures may seem fun at the start, but it really isn't that convenient.  What it does is when you hold down a button and move it in a certain configuration, it does actions like Back, New Tab, and such.  I prefer just using the keyboard shortcuts like backspace, Ctrl + T, etc.

The Download Statusbar is really the only thing i need with my Firefox, but that's just because I like little bar at the bottom rather than the annoying window having to keep popping up.

I highly recomend Firefox to any user: it is easy to use and the updates download very quickly!

Come on people, we already know a lot of people use Firefox, now will you actually post some addon suggestions like Asherlee said?

I posted something about needing help on some other Firefox thread and I can't find it anymore, I asked how I could fix it resetting to the default view(instead of the theme I chose)and me having to redo everything(the buttons and stuff are removed and I have to place them all back again). This isn't really a serious problem, its just really annoying but can someone help me out PLEASE.

As for the add-ons, I have a whole lot to suit me(and my parents because they sometimes use my computer when their laptops are at work)

Add-ons I have:

Adblock Plus- You know what this does.

All-in-One Sidebar- Just Extra Space(I need it).

Download Sort- Self explanatory.

Download Statusbar- You know what this does too.

Download Helper- Downloads videos and images from sites.

Fireshot- Screenshot thingy

Fission- Combines progress bar and address bar.

FlashGot- Um...I'm not sure.

Forecastfox- Weather and stuff.

FoxClocks- Also self explanatory.

iMacros- It "automates your web browser" whatever that means.

Image Zoom- Self explanatory part 3: the events after part 2.

InstaClick- Right click on a link and you open a new tab.

Interclue- A "link augmentation multitool".

Linky- I didn't get the explanation for this thingy.

Orkut Toolbar- Text editor.

Piclens- All it said was "Discover more", but I think it has something to do with pictures.

QTL- Translator

ReminderFox- Self explanatory again.

Rewind/Fastforward buttons- First thing you saw-last thing you saw.

Save Session- It saves the session.

Undo Closed Tabs- Re-opens closed tabs.

WOT- "Web of Trust" sounds suspicious

YouPlayer- Video player and download thing.

There are way more buttons than that, but thats all it said. I barely even use many of these, but it makes my browser look cool and intimidating

Themes- I swap between "NASA Night Launch" and "Newgrounds Classic"

Thanks to you, Asherlee, I actually started using FireFox for a good while now, but just yesterday my FireFox is being really weird. I used that feature where you can look at a page with no style on a different site, and then I converted it back to normal. But, since yesterday night, every time I would go on AG using FireFox it would be in the No Style format! Even if I change it back to the Basic Page one! I hate this right now because I really liked Firefox, haha. Oh, and that only happens when I go on this site! Every other site is perfect except for AG!! That's what's so weird! Can anybody explain to me what's wrong?

This is vaguely related... Does anyone else around here use FLOCK? It's based on Firefox, but it advertises itself as a 'Social Network Browser'. I just got it today from the referral of a friend and it's actually really interesting. It has all the wonderful greatness of Firefox, and it plugs in with many of my favourite websites (Facebook, YouTube, and any website that has feeds, like Canihazcheezburger?). I'm still getting used to it, and was just wondering if anyone else around here used it :o)

I've used Flock for a short period, but I still prefer Firefox because...

a) I'm too lazy to switch
b) I'm not all that social online

I recommend FoxyTunes. You can easily control your iTunes from Firefox.
