Heres just a little tutorial on how to find and tame wolves in minecraft.

1. Get some bones and meat (if you want) - Bones come from skeletons and the amount you need is random. Meat comes from pigs and attracts wolves and if you want to use it, it may help.

2. Find a taiga biome or a forest biome - Taiga biomes are snow covered, mountainy, and have some trees. Forest biomes are densely covered in trees.

3. Wait for night - Wolves spawn more commonly at night.

4. Place some torches - Friendly mobs like to be in light.

5. Go away wait a minute and come back - When i left for about 30 seconds and came back there was around 20 pigs, sheep, and cows being killed by 4 wolves.

6. Right click on wolves with bones - Keep clicking on the wolves with the bones until hearts come out and they gain a red color.

After playing with them for a while, heres a two tips what NOT to do with them once you have them.

1. Go to high structures you built in the sky (they'll fall off)

2. Play with buckets of water (they'll drown)

If you don't want them to follow you, just right click them to have them stay where they are.

I actually found that it's better to have a bunch of different areas with torches. You just walk area to area and keep going (make a circle) until they spawn.

It's not so much wolves spawn more at night, it's just that the animals that spawn aren't so scattered. Having torches means all the animals will be in one place, and you'll know exactly where the one place will be. : )

Do I need to change it to normal mode or it can spawn in peaceful?

They can spawn on peaceful, but be warned: if you attack one on peaceful it will still turn hostile and attack you.

They will spawn on peaceful and will attack you if you attack them and they'll also attack other friendly mobs until you tame them.

That's a good idea and I'm going to collect a lot of them and keep some of them in my house because I keep getting all my wolves killed and having to travel 5 minutes out (over an ocean) to a taiga biome to get more

Wow thanks, that really helped :O. I have 1 tamed wolf now, though finding the right 'biome' took quite awhile to find.

Yea i spawened in a desert and plane biome so i need to travel across the ocean for a few minutes to find a taiga and i have never found a forest so that kind of sucks.

Can't seem to find any wolves, I think its because I'm not going far enough for them to spawn. But, REALLY helpful tutorial, I just hope off of this I can find a wolf.

Do you mean far enough away from the mob spawner? Because im pretty sure its only 64 blocks away for them to spawn.

You can't get a spawner to spawn wolves =.=

Just light up an area with torches and wander through it at night. Problemo solved.

I'm not using a mob spawner anyway, but I don't think that I set up the torches in the wrong place. I'll try again and see if I can find one.
