If you could have ANY Video Game what would you want it to be like?

Personally i think a game where it was exactly like the world and you could everything you can do in real life. I think that would be fun to muck around on. Although if this game was actually made it would probably take decades to make and people would play on it for hours and hours and hours.

So what do you think...

Imagine Minecraft...

Now, add better graphics, larger maps (is that possible?), less lag, more people, instant interactivity... and you get AWESOMENESS!!

Maybe a game that's lets you play as any wild animal and survive just like real life? Except it has epic graphics, epic sound, epic everything. I like simulation games like that, except I haven't found one like I just described ever in my entire life.

Yes that would be fun. What animal would you choose?
I think being an eagle or something would be fun.

Second Life very much disagrees with you.

I doubt many people want to play something they experience on a -daily- basis. And why would they? Just go out and do that stuff for real.

For anything else, Grand Theft Auto. Anything more just doesn't work for a "fun" game imo.

Imagine Minecraft...

Now, add better graphics

Texture Packs. If you're talking better graphics beyond that, the game would screw up in more ways than one.

larger maps (is that possible?)

The maps size already is already several times larger than the Earth itself. I don't think the game needs any more in this regard.

less lag

Better Hardware. Also the game is not even finished so it's sure to be optimized later.

more people

Multiplayer

instant interactivity

Not sure what you mean by this :S

An animals life is EVEN MORE monotone than a humans :S

I can see this becoming boring very quickly.

Linden Labs came up with a formula that attempted to emulate one supposed endpoint to this query: not necessarily a game that recreates a life you ARE living, but rather one which allows you to explores avenues of your life that you wouldn't feel able to in real life, while holding you to the basic fundamental parameters of real life. How successful it is as a whole I couldn't tell you as I've never played it, and never intend to as it's not something that grabs me... the scope and the time required to commit to building that kind of virtualisation is a waste when my real life is already packed full of things that I enjoy doing without having to fantasise about what ifs.

However there are games out there that appeal to various aspects of my life, like Guitar Hero and similar franchises ("what if I picked up guitar instead of learning how to play piano?&quot, the Assassin's Creed series ("what if my occupation actually required a lot of free-running?&quot, and any realistic racing game, which satisfies my motorhead desires without me risking my life in everyday traffic. Any simulation would need to fulfil that kind of desire in principle.

My ultimate game, however, would be a sandbox, one in which I could remove various consequences of various actions e.g. falling great distances. Garry's Mod, for example, would be one of these but I haven't yet touched that because I'd probably get sucked into a vidya game vortex and lose my job or something.

That's the thing. Playing the game requires a huge amount of dedication and -actual- work. I doubt many people would use their free time to take up a job in an online game, when they could either play more simple and fun games, or do something productive with real life or their career.

As for the games success, it seems there's nearly 24 million registered accounts and while that is an impressive number, the number of actual online players ranges from 35000 to 60000 throughout the day (admittedly, those numbers are from Wikipedia, but there's a link that monitors the number of players and other in-game stats here.

So really, it seems more like a niche game given those numbers.

As for Guitar Hero, keep in mind that those are still games at their core, meaning that while they do mimic certain real life activities, they are simplified most of the time to make them less tedious as a whole.

Of course, this isn't particulartly true for simulations, but it seems those generally turn out much less successful than more Arcade-oriented games, because once again, they are more accessible and thereby reach a wider audience.

I would have this epic game where you could create every aspect of the universe, then you could choose your character and make him like a cross between ezio auditore (assassins creed brotherhood) and cole (infamous) if you wanted to. or it could be a normal person, whatever. it would be soooo cool. you could be anyone u wanted 2 and switch whenever you want. there would be 2 modes to the game. create mode, where you create and edit the universe while it is paused then enter the universe as anyone, even an alien, if ya want.

When i said a game where it is exactly like Earth, i didn't mean that you would do things on the game you would do on an every day basis, but things that you couldn't normally do in real life, but are possible.

A super-realistic version of Oblivion and with some kind of multiplayer modus like system link. Or a guitar hero where you can download every song on your pc and play it with the songs on a USB stick.

You mean like Frets on Fire and/or Rhythm Zone? Because that has already been done
