And it is amazing. I can draw OK, but that self portrait is great.
I can see why you don't like the first one. There is something about the mouth that is unsettling.

It looks like the nose and mouth of a stuffed kitty or a teddy bear... add some eyes and that "possible tat" could be quite cute!
