I think there should be a completely different section for sports. Sports is overall a different thing and it's big. People talk about it every day just like religion and music.
A sports section is a great idea. But there might be one problem with it. People might spam it and make topics about their favorite team, and there are a lot of different sports team.

well that would be kinda the point about it, making topics about your favorite team and stuff and how well you think they will do and to talk about the different players and stuff, that is not really spamming, what else would be posted there?
i see your point, but in some topics for example "bears fans" they could talk about things like the latest bears game, or some big things happening in the bears world. Or they could talk about things that are in the sports for example someone could make a topic like what is your opinion about <insert coaches name here>'s decision these are all legitimate topics
But topics like "raiders are awesome" and "who thinks cowboys are cool" would be spam and deleted just like any other spam topic
A problem with a sports section is that it's very specific (at least compared to the other forums). Then again, it's not so much more specific that movies and music.
