They're trying to. Just give them time. The spam just keeps coming back.

They do what they could do, but its hard to deal with those massive spambot waves (i see several sites try to solve it with a total forum shutdown for a while).

Let's just hope Ag doesn't take it to such drastic measures

It seems we've gotten rid of the problem on this specific section. I checked Video Games and they still have it. Hopefully all of it will be clear soon and it won't come back.

Well I'm guessing it's getting better because they took away the reCAPTCHA

The official message seems to be that they have tried to slow the bots down, rather than stopped them entirely. Considering the nature of this infection, it is probably hard to do otherwise.

As for the OP: Shut up. No, seriously, not to be mean, but whining does nothing but add another thread to the list of useless crap the moderators have to deal with. They are deleting all the spam they can find, but if you bothered to look at the help page or the rules or the guide or something, you would be quite aware that the number of mods is pretty low, and they have a snowball's chance in hell to keep up with the spammers, should the spam speed up again.
Not to mention it is pretty goddarn hard to delete anything from a site when you are not online, because you are sleeping or eating or being in school or whatever they might be doing out there in real life.
The admins have stepped up, they are doing the best to lessen the problem, the mods are doing their hardest not to go crazy on people who complain about stuff they don't know anything about while also removing as much spam as they can before passing out, and it would be greatly appreciated if people stopped making these threads, because they have no purpose than to anger me, make the mods feel even less inclined to help out and generally stock up the forums with, as mentioned, useless crap.
Just saying.

As for closing down the forums to stop this: I think it would be a much better idea to disable the sign up page for a week or so until everything is in order. Disabling the forums will do nothing but make the adbots migrate to the comments where they are a thousand times harder to find and kill, as seen in the recent spam attack there, while disabling the sign up page with a apologetic note might mean some people doesn't sign up to AG, but also means the adbots will be unable to, will mean that no new users are scared away when their first experience is a bunch of spam, and... we can still have the forums running without issues besides the idiots who reside here, myself included.

I believe that was the gist of it.

There has been an official administrator statement made by Phil a.k.a. 'theschles' on a change in coding now used to fight off the adbots. You can read his short post on thishere.

Now, let's hope this will now work and they are kept at bay! =)

I would like to keep this all to one thread in this section, so please post here regarding the adbot situation.

Maybe make a sticky on that particular thread Gantic? That might do the trick... and then you can simply lock the others and refer to that one? Like you probably will with this one... ;)
