   I read your gemcraft 0 comment...
   here's how traps work, in case you haven't figured it out:
   a gem placed in a trap has reduced damage (1/5 tower damage, actually)...but the specials of that gem are strengtheded, and it shoots faster.  (roughly twice as fast)...so an orange gem can gain mana twice as fast if it's in a trap rather than a tower.
