Haha, I noticed that too. It seems to be something that's been going on. It's been happening since I started coming back.
The only solution I've found is, instead of of clicking on 'last post' you have to click on the thread title. This will take you to page 1, but you can navigate to the last page using the page buttons above.
This may be worth mentioning to the moderators, though I'd be surprised if they didn't know about this issue already.

I thought you might find this humorous...
In a debate with a hardcore Christian, all started from his article about how "Wendy Wright schools Richard Dawkins"..and I pulled out a line similar to one by you, in which I called the Christian god a tyrant that created us so that we may worship him.
That part of my post is now deleted and replaced with "[Blasphemy deleted]"
