How can you demonize one side for something it does when you support the other side despite the fact it did the same thing?

Stop trying to use slavery as reason for demonizing the South. The North owned slaves, Lincoln owned slaves, if Lincoln had not been killed there would be no blacks in America, the Emancipation Proclamation only freed the slaves in the Rebel states and by the end of the war, the South had willingly freed its own slaves.
Lincoln and the Republican Party of the time were planning on nationalizing the majority of the government, something they accomplished. You were also wrong about America never being a Confederacy, before the Constitution, America operated under a document called the Articles of Confederation. Seeing as they took to a Confederation in lieu of a Federation ofter they seceded, it should be obvious that that was a main issue. In fact, if America was never Federalized to such an extent, many of what you see as problems would never exist. There is also the issue of taxes and other over regulation (as they saw it then) of the crops and livestock that the South made its living on.
Is this enough for you or do you wish to hear more?

For a minute, forget about all of the racist causes of the war. If going solely by the other causes, I am sure you would support the Confederacy.
