I am 22 years old. My screen name is a fusion of the names of the two bands Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius.
I enjoy meeting new people and personalities... so if you're interested please feel free to send me a message... I'll get back to you when I can.
Songs and bands for u to try:
Stratovarius - this Finnish Metal band was the first of its kind to catch my eye. Most of Stratovarius's songs are amazing power metal masterpieces. Don't let that fool you. Most of their slower songs are just as good.
Eagle heart
Infinity
A Million Light Years Away
Black Diamond
Hunting High and Low
Millennium
Phoenix
Dreamweaver
Playing With Fire
Sonata Arctica (SA) - Stratovarius may have been the first metal band to catch my attention, but Sonata Arctica had no trouble replacing Stratovarius as my favorite band. The odd thing is that they have toured together in the past. Stratovarius makes great fast paced music that gets your adrenaline pumping. There's no disputing that, but SA does that and more. For the most part, other bands have been able to draw out 1... maybe 2 different emotions with their lyrics. Sonata has no problem drawing out the full spectrum. Depending on the song, they've taken me from Happiness... to anger... to pure sadness, to feeling regret, to lol wtf do those lyrics say/mean, to a pure adrenaline rush, to so much more. Its hard to put into words all of what i feel when i listen to one of their songs. I will say this.... you may have to research some of the lyrics to their songs if you want the full SA experience because some of them are quite cryptic.... but that isn't necessary if all you just want to hear great music and aren't worried about the meaning of a song. Tony Kakko the vocalist writes the vast majority of the songs.
"Shy"
"My land"
"Paid in Full"
"Full Moon"
"My Selene"
"Tallulah"
The Cage
Misplaced
Under Your Tree
Juliet
Blank File
The End of this Chapter
Blank File
8th Commandment
Victoria's Secret (underwear music X-P)
Kingdom for a Heart
Nightwish - Another band that has toured with with Sonata Arctica. A strong competitor for my second favorite band. This band's music can be just as cryptic as SA with their lyrics... if not moreso... Once you know what they're saying it becomes more than just well played music. NW draws out alot of emotion with their music as well. They incorporate both male and female vocals in their music. The first female singer managed to fuse both metal and an operatic voice very well. Her name was Tarja Turunnen. She is no longer with the band, but still does her own thing now. The new NW female vocalist is a woman by the name of Annette Olzon. She has a different style of singing and she is by no means worse than tarja. She's just not the original NW style so there are alot out there that hate her. Keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen does all of the song writing.
End of All Hope
Bye Bye Beautiful (For BBB's music video u might need t scroll away from the youtube screen..... u might not pay attention to the song otherwise)
Wish I had an Angel
Astral Romance (w/ Tony Kakko)
The Riddler
Sacrament of the Wilderness
Kamelot - Roy Kahn the vocalist of Kamelot manages to pull off a sound unlike any other voice I've heard. I have no idea who writes their songs, but they do a great job. I would suggest their live album if you give them a shot. My personal favorites are the songs in which they incorporate Epica's lead singer Simone Simmons. There's no duet quite like a duet with Simone Simons.
Ghost Opera
Rule the World
The Black Halo
Karma
Forever
The Edge of Paradise
The Haunting
Epica - Hands down Epica has one of the most beautiful Goddesses I've ever seen as their vocalist. Simone Simons does a great job both melting your ears and your eyes with her radiant glory. She is a non-natural redhead, but I don't care... she's a beautiful Swedish Angel. I enjoy most anything Simone sings, but most of all I enjoy the duets she has done with other singers like Roy Kahn and Tony Kakko. (roy = the haunting, tony = white waters) If I could meet any celebrity it would be her.... ;-)
...and I recently found her youtube account --> http://www.youtube.com/user/Smoontjes
The Obsessive Devotion
White Waters
Unleashed
Never Enough
The Divine Conspiracy
Tides of Time
Deconstruct
The Northern Kings- This band is a cover band. They've released two cd's of 80s and 90s pop songs that they've made into pure amazing metal. This band was started by 4 people... all of which are lead singers for other bands. Tony Kakko from SA :-)... Marco Hietala from NW... Jarko Ahola from Terasbetoni ... and Juha-Pekka Leppaluoto from Charon
Hello
Training Montage
Broken Wings
Take on Me
We Don't Need Another Hero
Cain's Offering- this band is a composition of Stratovarius's lead singer Timo Kotipelto, ex-SA guitarist Jani Limatainnen, and i think ex-SA drummer (don't know his name), and other people. They have one album out and I can spam it in a loop for hours on end. The style of their music thus far is similar to both SA and Stratovarius, but it is by no means the same. Its something that has to be heard... its not easily put into words. Great band with great members.
More than Friends
My Queen of Winter
Oceans of Regret
Dawn of Solace
Symphony X - One of the few great American metal bands I've ever heard of... yea... didn't think those words were possible to have together. Most of their albums are conceptual.... generally based off of famous books or stories. I would suggest starting with their album Paradise Lost.
Domination
Set the World on Fire
Paradise Lost
The Edge of Forever
Inferno
Firewind - Great Greek Metal band. Their vocalist is great, but the main focal point is their guitarist. Gus G. My favorite songs by them are their two instrumental pieces.
The Fire and the Fury
Feast of the Savages
Van Canto - this is one of the most unique metal bands I've ever come across... They have 5 singers and a drummer... They have labeled their specific genre "a capella metal"... and they...are... awesome. i found them one week and their entire discography was in the mail w/ my home being the destination the next... Inga Scharf (the lone female singer) is really pretty and she has a great voice. "Sly" the main male vocalist has also got some lungs on him... the two of them really help make the band great... a few songs for you to try....
Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden cover)
Wishmaster (Nightwish cover)
Take to the Sky
Speed of Light
Lost Forever (my personal favorite :-P)

THEY'RE RELEASING A NEW ALBUM NOVEMBERISH OF THIS YEAR
Joe Satriani...... arguably the best guitarist there has ever been. He brings awesome to a whole new level. I'll just let his music do the talking.... (actually there won't be much talkin b/c he usually just makes instrumental pieces :3 )
Crystal Planet
Wormhole Wizards
Ceremony
Raspberry Jam Delta-V
Time Machine
Premonition
Theme for a Strange New World

I'm not sure... you're right that the father matches the scheme, the son does not however; there's a happy end. Unless it's actually the son of the son of the brutal parents from Caleb, that would sort of conclude the story. But it would leave so many questions unanswered, I cannot imagine this to be correct.
Also, there's just not enough vice and bad feelings ;) it's a simple dad abandoning his son for an easy life. The only thing that could be a hint is the dark tear/ink...
But I really should read the lyrics sometime. I'm beginning to really like this song, if this is what Sonata Arctica 'hard mode' means, I'm all for it^^
You never asked, but I'm not around on any chat, sorry.

Ha, for some reason I'm going around and commenting on everyone's account who's on my Friends List. Wonder if anyone will respond.
1. Well, quick re-cap of what's going on. Gotten into Tyrant, an online CCG on Kongregate.
2. I'm in 10th grade
3. So you still around man? I haven't seen anyone from the old days in quite awhile.
What I'd do to go back to those days. You, me, never, Uber, epic, blue, and all the others just hanging out on xat and Exit Path, goofing around and having a good time. I really do miss those days.
