I had the same problem with scrap metal wars. Its not a hard game, its just money is tight at the beginning. When you are having problems, try to get money from league, missions, or defenses. That way you can upgrade your robots nicely. The best thing in the beginning is to read the manual. Use the tank-ranged damage-runner/interceptor combination.
