    I've got level 522 now.

    It's actually pretty easy to make very high grade gems...IF you make a mana farm. (use R/O gems of at least grad 5 for best results, or a grade 4, but with extra red added. )
    I once made a grade 18, and I could've combined all my gems into a grade 20 or 21.  However, at those grades, it is much faster to increase damage by stuffing a grade 12-14 with grades 6-9.
