Dear Generals, Today we are bringing you more game improvements to lift our WebGL fueled rendering engine to the next level. Not only is it looking better than ever, it also feels smoother and more performant. Because we are confident in it’s quality, the WebGL renderer is now made the default renderer for our desktop and mobile version. We want to thank everyone for your initiative to give feedback and report bugs. You can look forward to even more improvements in the future! We are also happy to announce that the 25 player historical world map is playable again! The creation of this map was disabled in the last 2 weeks due to a bug. While the bug is not yet fixed, we decided that we don’t want you to wait much longer. For that reason we enabled a previous bug free map version, while the newest version is still in repair. With this release we are also tackling an important activity issue of the 25 player map. Our data shows that in the past it was hardly ever getting full, resulting in early abandoned games. For that reason this map will now be regularly created by our automated system instead of being creatable by players. New rounds will be automatically opened once an existing one is full or when enough time has passed. We think that this change will result in higher activity and exciting long lasting battles on this map. We will monitor the results of this change and make a final decision once we fixed the new map version. You can look forward to an historically even more accurate version, and a special historical event coming early next year. Finally, here is a detailed list of this week’s improvements: The construction and production menus now don’t occasionally jump back to the top anymore. WebGL: We improved the visuals of province names, capital names and victory points. This will give you a better overview and additionally improve the performance. WebGL: We improved the visuals of the water and coasts. WebGL: The attack timers are not hiding behind the war indicators at the province borders anymore. WebGL: A new embarking/disembarking symbol is shown, similar to the attack timer. WebGL: The projectiles of ranged fire were sometimes not visible anymore, we fixed this bug. WebGL: When zooming the camera far out the ranged projectiles, resource icons, province borders and urban province names are not displayed anymore for better overview. WebGL: Unit images on the map have been increased when zooming out to make them more visible. WebGL: Rocket images now show properly after launching them. WebGL: Results of some spy actions were not visible instantly, this problem has been fixed. Also the spy symbols have improved visibility and are no longer rendered behind province names. WebGL: The preview flight area for airplanes is back. WebGL: The dashed attack range preview when dragging units has been added. WebGL: We adjusted the coloring of the unit paths for moving and attacking to give a better indication of units’ current tasks and directions. WebGL: Force march path colors are properly displayed again on the map. We hope you enjoy today’s update and keep all the feedback coming. Your Call of War team.

Dear generals, It has already been a few weeks since WebGL is available on beta for our frontline pioneers and with today’s release everyone on desktop and Android devices will get to enjoy the new graphics renderer for Call of War. We made a lot of improvements and adjustments and were able to fix a lot of bugs also thanks to the feedback from the community. But we won’t stop at this point. We will keep monitoring the performance and make further fixes and improvements if needed to provide the best game experience. How can I use the new renderer WebGL? If you want to turn on WebGL simply access your in-game settings in the bottom right. You can also switch back to the old renderer later on if you wish. With WebGL you will get to enjoy the following features: Stepless zooming and smooth scrolling. A more accurate vision range around your province. Army paths are displayed in the country color. Pathing lines also move towards their target destination even when not selected allowing players to always have an overview where their armies are headed. Zooming out to see all countries is possible even on bigger maps. Closer zoom for accurate micromanagement. Airplanes now show vision ranges while in flight. Additionally you will find a list with all fixes and improvements for Call of War mobile below. We did a lot of improvements regarding app crashes and already saw very positive results. If you had problems in the past, please try again and give us feedback in case you are still encountering problems related to game crashes. When creating an account for Call of War each user now receives a unique, random name automatically. We plan on implementing the option to make name changing possible. For now please open a ticket to change your name. When opening the app your last played map will instantly load instead of the main menu to be able to take action even faster. Furthermore you are now able to use the Android back button on your phone to access the last visited screen. The ‘Suggested Games’ pop-up only shows games that users are able to join and not games that are above their current rank. Buildings now show the right construction costs also when another building is in queue. When you do not have any new messages you won’t see any red number anymore. Before it displayed a ‘0’. Dear generals, a new technology, which will revolutionize how you fight your battles in Call of War, is approaching. What is this modern technology you may ask. We are talking about WebGL. A state-of-the-art rendering technology which allows us to work with very fine graphical details on the map as well as provide a better performance. In the ingame news you find a gif which you will give you a first impression of what WebGL can do, but keep in mind this is not the final version, which means even more improvements are to come. As you can see there scrolling the map becomes more smooth and easy. We are also able to give the map and therefore the whole game a more realistic appearance by adding movement to the water, for example. While you eagerly wait for the release, feel free to check out the following website in order to guarantee that your device is WebGL ready: WebGL will be testable on beta games before we have our official release to make sure that everything works smoothly. If you have any questions, do not hesitate and ask in our forum. Your Call of War team
