We use to have a dedicate thread for these that died and I thought it was pretty fun. I saw one vs match recently in the Tavern and it got me thinking that this sort of thing deserved a revival. Mods if you feel this is better suited for the Tavern please move it there. Just let me know on my profile that you did so I'm not wondering where this went.
The concept of this is simple. We take characters from two different universes, for example a Marvel character vs. a DC character and put them in a fight and discuss who we thing would win and why. I figure we can set up a fight, discuss it for X number of page or a week or so then create a new fight to discuss. Also if you want to start a fight try to remember to include links to some information on the characters you are matching up so that others who might not be familiar with a characters can read up and join in. I will be happy to provide resources for links if you need them.
To get this started off big, here is a three way match.
Unicron (I will be using G1 Unicron here) vs. Ego vs. Mogo
I skimmed through those pages and I'll have to go with Ego. I read that he can create his own army with super strength and has some sort of power similar to Galactus.
I was going to go with Mogo, but I didn't see any clear powers or abilities there. Just that it gives rings to new hosts once the previous one dies. If it can actually use the rings then I think that would be a good ability, but I don't think enough to defeat Ego. Perhaps repel him for a bit, but with his own army of humanoids with super strength I think he'd overwhelm Mogo.
I read that Unicorn is a planet eater like Galactus, so I assume the planets in the battle would realise that and try to team up against him. I'm thinking something along the lines of Mortal Kombat: Deception - where they are fighting each other at first as enemies but when the strongest character comes into play they try to team up against it, but in this case I assume the planets would win considering their powers.
If it can actually use the rings then I think that would be a good ability, but I don't think enough to defeat Ego.
I think Mogo might be able to. I'm not sure about the continuity I'm using here but I do know Mogo is able to use a Green Lantern ring in the animated show.
Neither of them have super powers, though Captain America was enhanced to peak human potential. So I would expect the Capt to be overall stronger, more agile and have greater stamina. Both are skilled combatants. Batman does have more gadgets at his disposal that Capt would have to watch out for and Batman is considered the worlds greatest detective. Batman often uses those detective skills to find weaknesses in his opponents. However it falls I think both would need to bring their A-game.
