I hate to be the one to jump on the bandwagon here, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with Kingdom Rush! Great game that I can play for hours on end, even if I've played the levels dozens of times before... the one TD I can't get enough of!
The Last Stand: Union City would definitely be the best.
Achievement Unlocked 3 isn't nearly as good as the previous two, trying to string together random and comedic "achievements" as a story line and failing badly.
Infectonator 2 is basically Infectonator with different special zombies and OP items.
Raze 2 is an okay platform shooter but there are better ones.
Kingdom Rush is the most overrated flash game on this site. It has mediocre gameplay, linear upgrades, pre-placed tower locations, generic enemies and uninteresting levels.
Gemcraft Labyrinth just tries to get money for a lesser version of the previous game.
That seems a bit harsh! I find even easy mode to be quite stimulating... I can even play the same level over and over, which I often have to do since there are certain levels that take me quite a few attempts!

You basically sit there and either upgrade a tower to the next level or place a new tower. Sometimes you use spells.
Compared to other tower defense games (Like Gemcraft/Bubbletanks/CtC) where you are actively upgrading, combining, planning, mazing, or dealing with various types of enemies, Kingdom Rush isn't all that great.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game. I gave it an 8/10, which means I'd recommend it to anyone who likes tower defense games. It's just far, far from the best game, much less the best tower defense game.

I agree, I have no idea how it won a 9.7 out of 10 rating when all it is is basically a normal TD game. I played it for about an hour and then gave up on it.
Out of the list, I would have to say either The Last Stand: Union City, or Raze 2.
Although I haven't even played Achievement Unlocked 3 because I didn't really like the first 2.

On the contrary, there is one level that I have not yet passed (normal mode) that I find myself constantly working at to get every enemy destroyed because the towers can't get the job done by themselves... I'm still working at finding the perfect strategy so as not to let too many enemies through!

Which one would that be? I have 3 stars on all the normal levels. Really the only time I ever needed to use spells was at the very start for reinforcements (so they didn't run pass everything) and later meteors when they are in large groups.
That actually brings me to another point. There's only like 12 levels unless you get premium, and only two spells. Kind of sad.
Only two levels required any sort of real attention, that boss yeti and the final boss. You have to click the towers to unfreeze/prevent them from being sealed temporarily.
It's one of the snowy ones with major hordes of spiders and "big mama" spiders... the very last wave always gets me no matter where I place my towers or what spells I use!

Either have a high level artillery, some marksmen towers with buckshot upgrades, or a barracks with paladins who have holy aura upgrades. The spider baby mass is extremely weak and any kind of splash damage will kill all of them.
Another trick is to call a wave early in order to get your spell to come back faster. It may be dangerous, but if you're going to die anyways you might as well give it a shot.
