Hi everyone, I have a small question to the developers of the forum: I'm Spanish and I wonder if there are any open project about opening some new forum sections so that people could relate better, ie, a site for Spanish, one for German, Chinese, Russians, etc. It would be easier than those who do not dominate both the English can also enjoy the forum. Thank you for your attention!
That would be complicated to manage. Instead they should include an English version of posts typed in other languages. Such as if you were to type a post in Spanish it would include an English version under. This could also help people learn English.
no, what I mean is not to collect things, but the same forum is in Spanish (Spanish interventions), English (with British interventions), etc. Then if someone wants to walk by every one that does. And let as "default" English for more important issues, but for guides or help in games is more practical to have a section in your language.
They are different, yes, but we understand each other perfectly. Returning to the theme pricipal, create a category in Spanish in a forum like this costs nothing, and if what is needed are moderators or so I volunteered, but all this is that I can write thanks to google translator and my little knowledge of English, but so I can never make a useful guide on a game.
We don't need volunteers for the post as a mod, we need people we can actually use as mods.
Either way: 1. I think the staff is considering making the site multilingual. That means the major languages will be favoured. 2. Writing in your own language will not help you get better at English. It is a useful language, and we are not a mean, spiteful community. No one is going to look down on you for not being perfect at English. 3. Parting a community is never good for the community. Not just because there aren't any active Spanish writing mods, but also because the community is an union of people. If they can't or won't understand each other, there won't be much community spirit. After all, this forum is not only guides and important issues, it's discussions, suggestions, fun... (4. We had two Danish mods for quite a while, and no one considered making us a Danish part of the forums...)
A translation system will be quite difficult since of the massive number of people here and the mass of the website, but it will still be necessary to install such a thing. It isn't necessary to install all of the languages, just the major ones.
Ex. Spanish, French, Russian, Mandarin, Tagalog, some Native languages
but it will still be necessary to install such a thing
Why is it necessary? Google Translate seems to do a fine job with our OP, and while I think there are other, better translators out there, the English is readable and understandable. So, as such, there is no real reason for a [language] to English translator installed, and all things considered, probably none the other way either. Get a little bilingual, folks.
On another, related note: I do believe there is about a hundred things more important to think about than installing a translator to the site. Things that have been broken since forever, for example.
I guess they should out like a german, russian, spanish, etc. setting on the forum posts,so that if the posts aren't in that language,it would automatically become german,or russian,or spanish.
I have proposed to open a section for Spanish can speak Spanish among themselves, nothing more!
Still, that would be difficult to manage. I don't think any of the mods are fluent in Spanish, and I doubt they'd want to use a translator for every post. Not to mention a section like that seems useless and if they make one for Spanish,, they may have to make sections for other languages, which would clutter up the forums. This is an English-speaking website, so if non-English speakers want to post then they'll have to use a translator.
In the AG3 beta site they already have options where you can change the site language, so everything currently on there translates to it, but I'm not sure if that's going to be applied to the forums and game comments.
