Have you noticed that the USA has slipped from its founding principles? Our founding fathers came to america in an attempt to escape prosacution and what are we doing posacuting mexicans who do jobs we dont want, most of them have more patriotism then most of our government officials. Now we think we can go around "fixing the world" by starting war??!! So my question to you fellow armorgamers what happend to the good ol USA?

It's called society! People are evolving, mind sets are changing world wide. The world and economy has always changed over time, and always will change. Nothing really can be done. More and more people are stepping up and making a stand. The good ol' USA was never good. USA is in such deep cowpie it's not even funny. USA is responsible for so much crap in the world it's not even funny! There has never been the good ol' USA.

@Arax-

There has never been the good ol' USA.
What about the early republic under Washington and Jefferson, or the '20s, or the golden generation in the 40's, or the 60s/70s counterculture, the general principles of the USA might be foundering under our current neo-fascist conspiracy, but we can revive them, with parties like the Libertarian or the more Centristic side of Greens, but first we need to strengthen our economy. To answer the original question, the New Right and New Left killed it.

Yes, MrMonkey, I have noticed that the U.S (well, technically the government, and the government by the people, for the people) has slowly slipped away from its principles. Someone who was around during the great depression (possibly, I'm not sure) and WWII, etc., and seen their share of Presidents and government officials would know what they were talking about.

@doom1mated14: The reason gas is going up is because of the gay gas companies because they are mad cause they want more money, And you said food is going up but i now you mean food prices and they are going up because it takes gas to get food places and gas is a lot of money so they are makeing food pricer because they need money for gas. And good piont we are helping iraq but attacking it it makes a lot of sense lol.I think the econemy will fall eventualy

I'm gonna take a wild frikin guess and say you haven't spent any time outside the u.s.?? Cuz as crap as gov't may be here...you aren't going to find much better anywhere else...hell you probably won't find better, you might find equal but every country has its problems, and the U.S. is light in that category compared to about 100 of the 130+ countries in the world...

@eyetwitch there are plenty of governments that run their countries better than the USA. I am British and our government is a shambles at the moment but I'm still glad i dont live in America. At least we dont have a retard for president. However that is not the point. Where have you been that has made you so glad you live in America. In Europe there are plenty of countries like Sweden and Germany who run their countries extremely well. I'm also going to agree with Arax Nisanu. When exactly was the USA good. Original Americans were the native indians who were forced off their land into reservations or were killed. There is nothing good about that. It is ironic when the American constitution is all based on equality when the country you come from isn't even yours. I'm not saying that it is the current generation of Americans fault but you should think more about your history before claiming the USA is a great government with righteous ideals.

@woody-
I am not glad I live under the current fascistic regime. I am glad we have a democracy that can change that, unfortunately we still have two bad choices, which is why in my original post I mentioned Libertarians and Greens. As for your comments about the destruction of Native Americans, I am part Miami Indian, and realize how awful they were treated (read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee), however you should not let the morality of the actions of the few govern the morality of the many. Second, I left out the time periods where Indians were the worst treated on my prior list of when America was good. The American Constitution is not based on equality, except equality under the law, it is based on the philosophy of England's own John Locke.

Yow, what a messy conversation. Let's get some keywords on the table:

Capitalism
Welfare and social security
Egalitarianism
Freedoms
Environmental ethics
Colonialism and persecution of natives
Cultural dominance

At least all of these kinda need to be considered before making any real judgment on whether the 'good ol' USA ever existed or is still around or just how 'good' it is relative to other countries.

For example: certain European states are run extremely well as a relatively socialist (compared to the relatively capitalist US) welfare state. However the main criticism of this is that these states experience little to no economic growth (rather muted in the light of the US' recent economic woes). Many European states are furthermore going through a social backlash against the Islamic population and are embracing racial separatist, socially conservative regimes, one notable example being Switzerland.

To further organize this topic like Strop did, I think we also need to define what the "good ol' USA" is anyway. I can think of a few patriotic ideas that had I defined it I would have put, but my ideas of patriotism are alot different than that of others on the site.
To answer your initial question, I would say that the USA is how it should be. The "good ol' USA" is in good shape considering the circumstances.

First of all if you are going to post,learn how to spell and if you don't then use spell check,then we won't have to put you in the same category as these animals you call patriotic people.Second the only reason they do these jobs is because they have 20 of them living under one roof.Plus what they make here is alot more than they make in mexico.(only a couple bucks a day). I know this because I regularly go down there and work on an orphanage I built down there.So if you want to spew this left wing nonsense go ahead but I could give you a million reasons why they do not belong here and why we should close our borders.Now the reason we are losing the U.S.A. is because of people like you who try to make them heroes and want diversity and equal rights.

hmm I'm not going to comment on the last 2 posts, but the U.S.A. is still here its just being currupted by unworthy leaders and greedy politicians and company CEO's.The U.S.A. was good because it had good leaders, if you think about it everything bad that ever happens to a country usually involves its leader or another, for example woodrow wilson was blamed for the great depression, hitler was blamed for
WW2, Osama Binladin(however his name is spelled)was blamed for 9/11.So if you want to know what happened to this country ask yourself this "whatever happened to the government".
