I have looked through the last 15 pages here (going back to the beginning of July) and there was no topic like this, which struck me as odd.
Though there are many rules and whatnot that enforce what should and should not be said/done, there is nothing that dictates how people should act towards certain things. This is why I suggest this thread as a place for people to get support about what to do in any situation on this site.
What brought me to make this is that I received a comment on my profile asking me a question. I did what I figured was the right thing to do and responded by writing my answer as a comment on my profile. Then I thought about it; is he going to come back here to get the answer or should I have responded by commenting on his profile?
Now I've never been all that active here, so I don't know all that much about how things work. Still, I feel like things such as my question should be addressed.
So here you are, if you have any etiquette related question or feel like you can answer them to the best of your ability in a thoughtful and constructive way, do so here!
Other users will solemn return to profiles to check if their comment was responded to. Your best bet is to go to their profile and comment there. By the way, commenting on other people's profiles will get you 2 AP, while commenting on your own will get you 0. And I guess the mods consider comments on the owner's profile to be spam, or something along those lines.
AG doesn't have any etiquette problems. After being here for a few days you'll generally gain a good feel of the site. Most issues are common-sense related, while others are due to problematic personalities.
Most questions aren't necessarily considered addressable because things like this, as I said, are answered by the owner of the question in a matter of days after gaining a good feel of the site.
On an unrelated note, welcome back to the site. =)
Thanks, and I agree. The little bit that I have been here I'm already getting a a sense of how things roll and I am fond of it. As you say, "AG doesn't have any etiquette problems", which though it may be a little stern seems to be the truth. It's also one of the reasons I chose to return to this community as opposed to the millions out there.
As well, I posted this (uh oh) before having read The Forum Rules. I was actually looking for them prior to the posting of this thread but hadn't found them, and they actually address many of the issues I thought people may have had.
