Have you ever heard of ******* sword? No, you've never heard of 7-star sword? Me neither. But I did hear about b-a-s-t-a-r-d sword. Seriously, what kind of retarded moron decided that it's ok to call people retarded morons, but ******* should be censored?
Well...unless it is needed to call someone a "slow moron" (which is still very rare..but in case Armour games get an infestation of Bieber loving neo Nazis, we are ready) that phrase is very frowned upon. It is not censored, however, because those are phrases that a child can learn and if used properly, can be much less rude than ******* (retarded can be used to describe something that is hindered or slowed down, moron can be used in a book they might have to read).
Problem with that? Too bad. AG decided on this minor detail, and since it's PG it's official. Most people would reckon it's far worse to criticize another's parentage and legitimacy than calling the other guy an idiot at any rate.

This made me smile. Also, let's be realistic. When we refer to someone as the word in question, it's usually in an offensive way. Sure, there's times it can obviously be unoffensive, but to uncensor it for those purposes means opening up a whole bag of situations in which the cuss word will be exploited.
That's true, words like moron and retarded can be heard ANYWHERE, however, the word in question is not so common. It can be VERY offensive if the person with whom you are speaking has knowledge of the meaning and/or is super religious.
Your Seven-Star Sword, my good sir. > ----- (hope that stays spaced right) ----- Aside from the fact that foul language and name-calling are generally disapproved of, the answer to your question runs along the same lines as why the minimum age for this site is thirteen: rather than go through the whole rigamarole of seeking and verifying parental consent for younger prospective users and then tangling with foreign and international law if they aren't Americans, AG opted for the simpler route of declaring that no one under the age of thirteen may join. Similarly, instead of seeking out and un-censoring the decidedly few instances where a questionable word is used legitimately, AG decided to censor them all and avoid the trouble. Additionally, such blanking out of the blankety-blanks also serves to limit the capacity for users of poorer character to flame, deride, or outright verbally abuse other denizens of the site. If they can't cuss without it being covered over, they will have a harder time doing their derogatory deeds. ----- And if you're determined to call someone what you think they are, the censoring makes you think a little harder: rather than calling someone a dumb***, you can instead label them as an egregiously erroneous, badly bolloxed, blathering buffoon who is blaring brain bile all over the place.

By the way, there's also a rule that says not to bypass the censor:
- No excessive swearing or language. If you're that angry about something, take a break from the forums for a while, or confront the other user directly instead of in the forums. Also, do not attempt to use any means to bypass our profanity filter, such as misspelling a cuss word, or using punctuation or spaces. We are much more likely to ban users for this behavior than those who let the profanity filter replace cuss words with *'s instead. Still, excessive swearing can get you in trouble too, so keep it clean.
