Here's the deal, the sheer majority of MMOs on the site (and in general) follow the rather pitiful strategy of FtP, PtE (free to play, pay to enjoy). They add an extreme gap between payers and non-payers, and are to a big extend designed to frustrate those not paying. I know the games need to cover expenses and all that, and i'm not against bonus material for premium players, but many are more or less made to make players that don't pay fodder and stepping stones for paying players. That makes me, for one, to steer clear of the MMO category and i think it hurts both the rest of the MMOs and the site's reputation. After all, when you google armor games you get
"Play Free Games Online at Armor Games". Emphasis on 2nd word.
I talk about this because of the new game, Spiral Knights, which i have experienced for a long time. Either you buy the premium currency, allowing you to play for more than the bare minimum and give you virtually endless reserves of the non-premium currency, or you play for an hour daily, tops, collecting regular currency coin by coin, to buy the currency necessary for anything but the first tier of gear (for which you can trade a day of play for not using currency), grinding a week for any prize. This is made worse by the fluctuating prices of the currency, due to people playing the market. 3 Rings, the producer, even promotes that behavior, and that's a shame because it would be a very good game otherwise.
Long story short, we have high standards here for all games but MMOs, and i think we should revise them. Discuss.
Perhaps, but i said "Discuss". Like, not " Armor Games is lame.", but rather "Can we get cooler?". Hating's the first. Got anything constructive to post?
If you think you can find a better MMO why not find one and let the admins and mods know about it and see if they can get it.
Meantime for some reason the second window that opens for Spiral Knights keeps closing on me for some reason. Someone mind looking into this? Could be an issue on my end but I'm unsure what.
@Xhosant Buying CE does not give you an endless reserve of crowns. Being F2P does not limit you to only an hour of playtime. The CE market is completely player driven the price it's at is the price people are willing to pay to get it.
