for me cheating in a game reduces the excitement of the game... why play it if you will just use cheat to finish the game? you've just wasted money for buying the game... if you use cheat coz you cant pass a certain challenge why not try a walkthrough or strategy guide? than using a cheat? Cheats are for losers...
Most people, like myself, only use cheats after we've beaten the game and this is our second time playing it through. True, I believe cheats ruin the game that you've boughten, but its your money, your game, your property and you have the right to do whatever with it.
Another case is when the game gets too boring, or impossibly difficult, and cheats are the only way to continue enjoying the game without dumping it.
Sivre, you are making the same mistake that many philosophical utilitarians make. Defining HIGHER PLEASURE. What is pleasing and enjoyable to one person will not be the same for the next. What does it matter what people do with their game as long as they are enjoying it? Maybe I went out and bought Madden 08 so I could toss it like a frisbee?
I agree with skaknight. I usually beat the game once or twice, then use cheats to see what is possible on that certain game, or to just entertain myself a bit before moving on to the next game
well asherlee my point is.. you buy the game to enjoy the essence of challenges.. you buy madden 08 to insert it in you console and play it, not throw it like a frisbee... games are made to entertain you in a challenging way... i agree with others i just use cheats after i have beaten the game a couple of times.. then after that i experiment with the cheats...
I disagree, while I myself use cheats after I've beaten the game, everyone is different and peopel probably do buy certain games just to use cheats and play it differently. Some Cheats, like Asherlee's Madden 08 frisbee, allow the user to play the game differently, like the common Big/Little Head mode. Some people decide it is a waste of time to play it normally while others decide to play it normally without cheats.
