Another pretty awesome one is the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird. The worlds fastest airplane (Cousin to the A-12 that Minotaur posted above.)
I thought that the North American X-15 was the fastest plane in the world... it reaches a speed of Mach 6.72 and the Blackbird can only go Mach 3.3. Is the North American X-15 a Plane?

Its really a hybrid spacecraft, since its left the atmosphere. It wound up being the basis for another, top secret aircraft I was watching a show on. And this aircraft is the fastest in the world; It can go around the world in two hours. It does this by entering into space and than skipping like a stone accross the atmosohere. So sometimes in satellite weather
Photos you can see a dotted contrail line. Then the show bought up some pictures and stuff. I dunno if its real, but it'd be really really cool if it was.

Ah, I see. Hybrid spacecraft. Cool. Oh and another plane I like is the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle. It looks so amazing!
Surprised no one has brought up the BAE systems Harrier II. It's a vertical/short take off and landing aircraft, which means it can take off without a runway. Check this video out (and maybe this one too.) It can't fly supersonic, but it can slow down from over 600mph to 0 in only seconds. Really a fascinating plane.
There is also the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (also called "the warthog".) The 30 caliber, GAU-8/A Avenger gatling cannon is pretty awesome.
