A good day I bid all ye artfull, creative and skillfull citizens of ArmorGames! =)
It's fair to say that the revival of the Armatar Contest was a big success, with lots of wonderful and original entries for the Thanksgiving season, but... we're aiming for more!!
So let's continue this old tradition and surpass the first edition with even more entries of your original drawings in the second launch: The 2012 Winter Edition!
Here are the guidelines that help you figure out what is allowed and what is not :
# ARMATAR CONTEST GUIDELINES :
1) All entries must be appropriate. They cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Keep it clean! 2) The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension. 3) Your entry must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to the actual armatar size. Here are a few suggestions about this : ~ Sometimes keeping it simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be and check often how it looks when it is scaled down. And remember to save a lot while you are making it! Better to delete 20 -in between made- save files later on, than ending up with something you actually don't like... ~ If you are able to do vector, by all means! That can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue. 4) Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other pieces of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% created by you. 5) Must be fitting to the current contest's theme. If a certain entry is debatable, a mod or admin will give the decisive answer for submission.
Do note that we won't necessarily add all submissions... remember that all submissions will likely go up in batches preceding or during the actual season/holiday, and that they will eventually disappear from the Armatar roster as we approach the next theme.
We look forward to seeing your contributions, so pick up that pencil, start up your art programs, get your brain into overdrive and do your best to make 'em look good! =)
I've tried to do some New Year's Eve entries. No masterpieces (lol) this time... I did what I could.
It's party time! I don't know why, after scanning the drawing, the background colour is orange because the original one is yellow o.O
I'm not sure if this one breaks any rule. I've drawn the building, but not the fireworks (I tried, but the result wasn't quite good). I've added the fireworks using Photobucket's edit options. So is this allowed or not?
I don't know what you do that night, but where I live, we eat the twelve grapes (a grape with each of the twelve chimes). I was bored and I decided to draw... grapes!

I am not quite sure what you mean.
If they are stamps or brushes or part of a stock package, I would say that is not your own work. I would even avoid special brushes that come with Photoshop.
If the fireworks are an actual filter in Photoshop (ie there is a menu option named 'add fireworks', that is probably more of a grey area, but I would ask for an admin to clarify on this one.
But if they are some sort of manipulation (ex: you drew some brightly coloured dots and used a filter to spread the dots in a way that looks like fireworks), then the fireworks were still created out of your own effort.
Question- when does this end? Because I have a good idea that matches DayCee's grinch a bit. I might be able to get it up tomorrow. Question 2- will there be a spring one?
@alphabetsoup314: I didn't use Photoshop. There is an option on Photobucket that adds fireworks to an image and that's what I did. Hence, they're not my own work. Well, I'm going to ask MrDayCee about this.
Hey, who made the exploding earth armatar? I'd use it but the wolf is too awesome.
I did that. And I'm still laughing that it has been accepted. LOL
