A good day I bid all ye artfull, creative and skillfull citizens of ArmorGames! =)

It's fair to say that the revival of the Armatar Contest was a big success, with lots of wonderful and original entries for the Thanksgiving season, but... we're aiming for more!!

So let's continue this old tradition and surpass the first edition with even more entries of your original drawings in the second launch: The 2012 Winter Edition!

Here are the guidelines that help you figure out what is allowed and what is not :

# ARMATAR CONTEST GUIDELINES :

1) All entries must be appropriate. They cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Keep it clean!
2) The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension.
3) Your entry must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to the actual armatar size. Here are a few suggestions about this :
~ Sometimes keeping it simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be and check often how it looks when it is scaled down.
And remember to save a lot while you are making it! Better to delete 20 -in between made- save files later on, than ending up with something you actually don't like...
~ If you are able to do vector, by all means! That can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue.
4) Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other pieces of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% created by you.
5) Must be fitting to the current contest's theme. If a certain entry is debatable, a mod or admin will give the decisive answer for submission.

Do note that we won't necessarily add all submissions... remember that all submissions will likely go up in batches preceding or during the actual season/holiday, and that they will eventually disappear from the Armatar roster as we approach the next theme.

@MrDayCee: actually, I tried to add a darker background and I didn't like the result, to be honest. That's why I chose a different one.

However, if you see everything blue around winter time, then I have a couple of "blue" entries: frozen leaves (or sort of). One of them is a slightly modified entry that I submitted on the Thanksgiving contest. I know, they're not amazing.

Personally, I actually think you did great! They look really well and you can destinctively recognize the leafs, so good job! =)

here is mah 1st entry for this awsum contest, and I have converted this 1 in 100x100 px alr lah XD

And here is the explanation for mah pic:

1. Its name is "AGArmatarContestWinterEd_Snowballfight", any1 wanna have a snowball fight with me can go there to play lah XD

2. I intended to make the hat resemble to mah country-Vietnam's flag

3. Can u see the golden teeth? XD
just made it for fun and impression lah XD
but if u RLY can NOT see that golden teeth, then I may fix it to be normal- all whitey lah XD

3. I made the shirt and gloves in Blue bcoz just like MrDayCee I also luv blue color, imo it so sexy lah XD

4. Any suggestion which help me to improve mah pic is EXTREMELY welcomed lah XD

5. A lol note that I made it by Paint and in just 5 min, but i m quite satisfy that i m the 1st one draw a pic about snowfighting lah XD (hope that some1 will make pics for this topic to compete with me lah XD *a quick wink to MrDayCee *)

Finished mine, I don't think it's sized perfectly as to resize it I just put it in pages, resized it, and took a screenshot. I can fix it if need be though, I think.

I have 600x600 and 100x100 for you.

@MrDayCee: Finally ur entries r there alr, but I wonder WHO will evaluate ur pics? I mean u r the one that evaluate every pics rite? but how about ur own ones? :3 X3
Imo the snowman looks cool XD
about the starry pics, i luv the last 1 most bcoz it s the most detailed one lah XD

btw, which drawing program did u use? Inkscape? GIMP? or just Paint?

(if u use Paint to draw the Starry night pics then u r really talented lah XD)

@MrDayCee: I've just realized that you were talking about the snowflakes' background and not the reindeer's. Forget about my last post. It doesn't make sense LOL
Yes, I agree with you. The background is too dark, but I'm working on it. I'll submit a modified version soon.

I like your snowman. It is charming. About the stars, my favourite one is Starry Night... (2). The stars on the background are smaller, so in my opinion it looks much better.

@70_70_70: suggestion for your first entry. Try adding something in the background or painting it with some colours.

I really like your blue ones, kega. And great snow man, Day.

I'll try and think of a few more entries, but I used most of my ideas with the first batch. I'm really surprised no one has done a wolf yet, so I might have to do just that.

@kegaumongo: tks for ur suggestion, but i DID think about the background color for mah 1st pic, but when considered carefully I decided to leave it in white bcoz the guy is standing outdoor, and it s winter so the background should be white, no? X3

ah and I m still in luv with ur frozen leaves, but how can u made the leaves so easy to look? I mean it must take u quite some times to draw to leaves so that we can destinctively recognize the leaves, no? X3

@MrDayCee: as u can see, it s "leaves" not "leafs" for the sake of correct grammar lah :-P
(no hard feeling or offence here, but u r the Mod now so u should improve ur grammer n spelling, no? XD)

Christmas is considered part of Winter.

Also, I am planning on making another submission later today. The post that contains the submission may or may not include a revision of my first submission.

@ 70_70_70 : Allright... I'll accept your little contest and will try to make a 'snowball' related armatar for the contest. Just give me a little time and you'll see it when it's finished!

And yes... you are correct, it's 'leaves', not 'leafs'. Thank you! =)

@ soccerdude2 : L.O.V.E. the snowman! Great job! And don't worry about the 'miss-fire' with the smaller version, as long as it is square (it is) it will all be allright in the end!

Just remember the end result folks! What looks great in 600 x 600, might not look so well when it's scaled down to 100 x 100. Keep that in mind!!

@ kegaumongo : Don't worry, no problem! And yes, my thoughts for winter time are always in the form of a shot o'happyness in a darker corner of the year... hence my love for happy images! =)

@ Bronze : If your wolf is going to look half as good as the others, I'm already preparing my 'wow' for you! =)

@ Clancy12 : This edition is also including Christmas indeed! I was under the impression it was clear, seeing as Christmas is a part of the winter time (like Patrick pointed out), so I'm sorry if it wasn't for everyone, but you are more than welcome to enter any Christmas submissions if you want! The more the merrier! =)
