A good day I bid all ye artfull, creative and skillfull citizens of ArmorGames! =)
It's fair to say that the revival of the Armatar Contest was a big success, with lots of wonderful and original entries for the Thanksgiving season, but... we're aiming for more!!
So let's continue this old tradition and surpass the first edition with even more entries of your original drawings in the second launch: The 2012 Winter Edition!
Here are the guidelines that help you figure out what is allowed and what is not :
# ARMATAR CONTEST GUIDELINES :
1) All entries must be appropriate. They cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Keep it clean! 2) The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension. 3) Your entry must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to the actual armatar size. Here are a few suggestions about this : ~ Sometimes keeping it simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be and check often how it looks when it is scaled down. And remember to save a lot while you are making it! Better to delete 20 -in between made- save files later on, than ending up with something you actually don't like... ~ If you are able to do vector, by all means! That can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue. 4) Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other pieces of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% created by you. 5) Must be fitting to the current contest's theme. If a certain entry is debatable, a mod or admin will give the decisive answer for submission.
Do note that we won't necessarily add all submissions... remember that all submissions will likely go up in batches preceding or during the actual season/holiday, and that they will eventually disappear from the Armatar roster as we approach the next theme.
We look forward to seeing your contributions, so pick up that pencil, start up your art programs, get your brain into overdrive and do your best to make 'em look good! =)
@EmperorPalpatine: ur pic is nice XD but how come there r sun and moon at the same time? :3 and do mean the CHIMNEY flipped? bcoz in ur latest modified pic i just saw that u changed the chimney position, not the WHOLE house lah X3 @MrDayCee: tks a bunch for accepting mah challenge, cant wait to see ur pic about "snow fighting" topic lah XD
@pickpocket: nice idea man, i assume that u did NOT draw the whole Santa n the gal but only their hands on purpose, no? but for me, Santa is always a fat and generous guy (the fatter the more generous lah X3) so I highly recommend u modify that pic to make the Santa looks fatter lah X3 maybe u can draw his belly bigger? :3
@Patrick2011: nice pics man, but actually it s the 1st time I saw a snowflake with that shape lah XD
@EmperorPalpatine: lol so it s a STAR not SUN? sr but it DO look like a sun lah :-P @GhostOfHorror: i totally with u that the Santa looks long and thin lah XD told ya, the Santa Claus MUST be fatter lah X3
@MrDayCee: I just finished mah 3rd entry but this one is actually the Santa Clause Edition of mah 1st entry, hence its name will be "Snow ball fight_Santa Clause Ed XD"
So yeh, 1 more pics for the snowball fight topic XD and still wait for ur pics in that topic lah X3
ah and I m still in luv with ur frozen leaves, but how can u made the leaves so easy to look? I mean it must take u quite some times to draw to leaves so that we can destinctively recognize the leaves, no? X3
Honest answer: I have absolutely no idea. I've never been properly taught to draw, so I usually follow the trial and error method: I play a little bit with the colours and, if I like the result, I carry on. However, sometimes the result is awful and I have to begin from scratch... So yes, I'm pretty slow when it comes to drawing.
@ GhostOfHorror : That's not certain yet... the contest has been running for 2 days, so we'll have to see when the first batch is ready for the picking. I will notify about it in this thread though, ok? =)
@ EmperorPalpatine : Great work! If I had to choose, I would pick the one with the chimney on the left side though... that would look more balanced. Also, the one with the blown up house is better for scaling down eventually.
@ Patrick2011 : I like your snowflake and the updated castle. Looks much better with the darker blue background! Good job! =)
@ pickpocket : It's a wonderful image! Even though it might look like Santa is taking the present, it all depends on how you see it. You can also think the other way around... if you want to change it, it is up to you, but I like it the way it is already! =)
@ 70_70_70 : I like your new submission, allthough I have to point out that it will look better without the star on Santa's hat... it looks a little odd with Santa this way. =/
And I'm working on a few right now, so you'll have to wait untill later today for my submissions... better prepare yourself for a snowball fight!
By the position of the present, it almost looks like Santa is taking it away lol.
True, but I made the kids arms last. Poor planning on my part. I originally had the kids hands up higher, but they looked freakishly long before. Ill think Ill leave it how it is. DayCee made me feel like I should stop being harsh on myself. Or, at least tone it down a little. Im always critical on myself. Ill make some more soon.
