Multiple colleges have created teams now. I believe it started in Middlebury College, and apparently, it's become so big that international governing body that oversees tournaments and whatnot. It's extended to other nations and high schools.
Unfortunately, though I attend a college adjacent to Vermont (home of Middlebury), we don't have a recognized team...yet. Even though I'm not exactly a big fan of Harry Potter, it still looks like a ton of fun. I wouldn't mind being a snitch runner.
Oh I had never heard of this until I looked in this thread. I suppose I should go read Harry Potter books or watch the movies or something and then go look up the sport. My first impression is that the name sounds fun.
It's a ball game where everyone has to grip a broom between their legs. The chasers and quaffle scoring are standard. Beaters hit dodgeballs at opposing teams; once hit, they have to exit the play area for a while. The snitch is a gold painted person with a tennis ball who can roam the entire campus, and the seekers try to catch him.
@Nicho Thanks for clearing that up a bit. Did this derive from Harry Potter. *starts Harry Potter themed speaking* Because bloody hell, there sure are very related. ;O (Like Ron? )
