Even though I really like it whenever someone wants to learn more about music, I still have to move this thread to the Popular Media forum for you Katnip28. This is the correct forum for your desire to broaden your musical horizon, ok?

Ever listened to Metallica? Or Rise Against?
Rise Against is newer and Metallica is more 80s. Both are insanely good.

Rammstein. I don't know German, but their music sounds good to me. First song I heard from them.

^ The song posted above was actually pretty good even though I don't usually listen to music in different languages.

I listen to mostly alternative and indie rock, although I listen to a little bit of everything else as well. I just find a lot of my favorite artists fall under this genre. Anyways, here's a few of my favorite bands:

Modest Mouse
Arcade Fire
Radiohead
The Black Keys
R.E.M.
Blonde Redhead
Death Cab for Cutie

And here's the song I'm listening to now. (Hopefully I did the hyperlinking right... knowing myself I would probably mess up something as simple as that.)

If you like metal you should listen to Sabaton, A really good (and quite famous) Swedish metalband. Even people who don't like metal so much usually enjoy them.

Listen to him.
But furthermore I would recommend ACDC, Guns n Roses, Led Zeppelin, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, System of a Down, Dream Theater, Metallica, Linkin Park I probably have more but I can't name them without seeing my playlist.

Well, Queen fosho. Says on iTunes that these guys are "Indie Rock", so maybe check out Dirty Projectors. Also see: Real Estate (kinda relaxing), Grizzly Bear(Haven't heard too much of them, but love this song). Probably none of these bands are as rocky as you want, but at least it was "Indie Rock", loll.

Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, Pantera

I had a few other suggestions, but I tried to keep it to just those three genres as much as I could, since most of my other rock recommendations become indie rock, alternative rock, and punk rock. Hope you enjoy the bands!

I think the OP maker of this thread has decided which bands to listen to, seeing as it was abandoned and buried. No need to bring it back by adding another band to an already extensive list given, ok? Locked. =)
