I think they needed some space to advertise the Game of the Year Awards on the home page, so they removed it. I'm not sure if it's the prelude to something else, though.

They've been planning on removing them for ages because they're broken beyond repair. Expect them to be fixed in an AG3 update.They're not actually removed yet, because you can still see them here. You'll know that they're gone when that page leads you to a 404 error.
