I KNOW THIS MIGHT BE A LONG READ BUT ITâLL BE WORTH IT!
Before you get into this RPG, which I promise you will enjoy, I got the idea of making this from several stuff. The Hunger Games inspired me the most since I love the books and the movie was great. I also got a little inspiration from The Maze Runner. There are several things that made me want to do this, but it actually was out of the blue, not going to lieâ¦
Anyways please read the story if you wish to participate, I know it may not be the best but it will make this RPG way better than you think. I approve of any constructive feedback if possible (On my profile) and if you donât like something just tell me. Good Luck!
STORY: Set in the year 2063, humans have always been the same, greedy and egotistical as usual, but one thing that truly hasn't changed is their need for entertainment. With so much stuff that used to be entertaining a few decades back seized to be that exactly, humans didn't know what exactly to be entertained by anymore. Now television is full of tournaments and races involving real people in real danger more than ever before, this gives a sense of thrill and excitement in the viewers and this also means big bucks for producers and directors. These shows aren't the casual low set contests you see, they involve killing to survive and fighting to the death. It kind of brings back the times for coliseums and gladiators if you think about it. It just goes to show that humans will always be the same, so much blood lust and the need for entertainment.
This brings me to a very special tournament called, ââGROUND ZEROââ. This tournament is considered to be one of the best and most watched of this century. It consists of survival mostly, but itâs all twisted. With monsters, obstacles and with even the players having to fear each other it is one of the most intense and suspenseful tournaments of all time. It is located on an island, location which is unknown, which is covered by a dome. This cannot be seen by satellite because all governments have blocked off its view to the public. This dome is used to create the biomes inside of this tournament; the players have to go through weather changes that can be disastrous, even tornadoes have been seen in this tournament. They also have to go through different terrains such as deserts, glaciers, mountains, etc.
GETTING STARTED: [Big AD on TV and Billboards] Hello, I am Albern, your host for this yearâs Ground Zero! This year since we are choosing the USA to be part of it, I have come to New York to find enlistees! If you wish to sign up you must travel to the Big Apple and go to the ''Core'', only a handful will be picked to partake in this yearâs Ground Zero so be sure to be thorough with your application seeing as how we will only be picking who we think will be best for this year. RULES:
*YOU MUST READ ALL THE RULES
*3 or 5 Groups, each group has 2 players. (So it will be 10 players max, but anyone can apply)
*Players are selected by how well they construct their application.
*Players will be put in randomly into the teams.
*Players who have died can participate in the next tournament with a new name but they have less possibility of getting in.
*Anyone can sign up but only a handful will be chosen. (Please do not be mad if you are not picked, I can only handle a certain amount of people, please understand that. Plus I want this to feel like an actual tournament and there will be several more tournaments, this is just the first.)
*This RPG is special; it actually consists of a group winning. (Currently there is no prize, I was thinking maybe something you could put on your profile or something, Iâll think of something.)
*Once the flame is lit you must start. (Basically itâs when I start it and tell people what to do and how to start it off.)
*Only players that are in the same group can talk to each other, but everyone may address to me. Now, how you will talk to your partner is up to you, I suggest not through here though.
*If in any way I catch you cheating, you and you alone will be disqualified and sent to the pit, where you will die a painful and agonizing death. Please do not cheat it could put your partner in a bad position and could cause him his death as well.
*Only I decide what happens to the group and players. You cannot say anything that will be in your favor, for example you cannot say: ââI walked forward and I jumped the gapââ The right way of putting it would be: ââI walked forward and I attempt to jump the gap.ââ Also please donât be dull (lack of creativity) and you must use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling if you wish to get into the Core.
*Groups do not decide in groups on most situations, I will most likely almost always split you up, the only reason you are in groups is so you do not kill each other. Oh that's another thing it is illegal to kill your partner, if you even try to do it I will immediately send you to the pit.
*IMPORTANT: The application sheet is not the same as the sheet you use in the actual RPG. There is only some stuff you use and some stuff will be added to the Character Sheet. I will instruct everyone on what to put.
*IMPORTANT: Any criticism should be posted onto my profile comments not here, this is to avoid any confusion and to not cause such a mess in this thread so to keep it clean and neat.

*Athletic Abilities: (You must choose 2 of these: Sprinter, Strength, Endurance, and Agile.) (This will basically be your only athletic abilities in the RPG. It will factor in on some situations.)

*Bio: (Basically your history before ââGround Zeroââ and why you wanted to enter. You may put what you wish here, just be realistic and remember to keep it in the time frame of the set year which is 2024. Do not put anything ridiculous or immature or you will not be accepted. You do not have to put anything here if you do not want to but you will have less chance of going to the Core. The more creative you are the better chance you have of getting into the Core.)
*Appearance: (This will not affect your possibility to enter but it adds to the story and gives a better image) [Eye Color] [Hair Color] [Skin Color] [Height] [Shape: I will pick your shape according to your athletic abilities so leave this blank.] (If you put anything ridiculous like green skin I will not let you participate.)

(Currently there are none since this is the first tournament, but there will be more. Just put no or your application could become null...)
ALMOST THERE:
All you have to do now is post the application, once I have a certain amount of people, which I will not say, I will close registration. Then I will announce when I will be starting and will message everyone on their profiles so they can get ready so please keep your comment section open, if you do not have it open I will not add you to the Core.
Please refrain from any immature and unrealistic stuff in your application cause that will result in you not being able to be put on the Core and possibly any future tournaments.
Last but not least, everyone have fun! I donât want complaining⦠Constructive criticism is fine but if it is anything but that I will send you to the pit and youâll die and be excluded from the rest of the tournament. Also, everyone will move as one, basically I mean that everyone has to enter their next move until I can give everyone the next order.
If this doesn't go well I probably wonât be making any other RPGâs so Iâll appreciate it if you guys try it out at least. Btw this is my second RPG ever so I need as much criticism possible, but only put criticism on my profile please.

Haha, I'm also impatient. But I want this to be as organized as possible. When it starts or before it starts I will message everyone playing, including you. So don't worry and check up on your profile comments every once in a while.
I already have Introduction, teams, and the character sheet ready, now it's just a matter of closing the registration and we can start.

To keep himself occupied, pang devoted his life to studying war strategy and building up his body in preparation for the day he can have his revenge on these bandits, A few months ago, pang tried to join the army, many small rebel factions, a few bandit groups (separate from the ones that attacked his village), and even tried to start his own group (all in hopes of getting a group so that he may have a better chance at getting his revenge) but was rejected by them all due to his completely unknown status. He joins Ground Zero in hopes of proving his mettle as a strategist and a warrior

Time to get started, you don't have to read the whole introduction but you'll miss out on a few things. In the introduction you only have to read what is after the 3 *'s.
~~~INTRODUCTION~~~
The players have been chosen, a phone call has been sent to every player. Every player is told to pack their bags lightly, that it is most likely they will only be using the clothes on their back and to wear comfortable clothing attire. They will all be picked up at a private strip in New York.
As everyone arrives at the strip, they can all see a sizable amount of bodyguards waiting to escort them into the plane. A tall guy in a fancy black suit, maybe 6 feet tall, approaches all the players, ââYou are to follow every single order I tell you, if you do not comply I will immediately disqualify youââ he said. ââOne by one we will be taking you into the plane, you will then take your seat and you will be blindfolded. If you attempt to take the blindfold off, it could probably cost you your life. So I suggest staying in one piece until we get to the island.ââ Everyone is now seated and the plane will be taking off to Ground Zero. The plane arrives at Ground Zero in what seems to be hours.
After a few hours of who knows what, the bodyguards take the players and send them outside. The players are now told to take off their blindfolds and follow the yellow line.
Everyone stays quiet; the only sound is the sound of footsteps and the nature around them. Sooner or later they approach the entrance gates and are let in. As soon as they enter they all notice a familiar person, an average height man, a bit more aged, in a black suit, kind of like a host.

ââWelcome everyone! My name is Albern, you may recognize me from the various ads on TV and billboards. You are here today because you were accepted into the Core! I am here throughout the journey of this yearâs annual Ground Zero tournament. I will be explaining the rules and guidelines of this tournament and I will also be giving out your team. The team will consist of 2 players each and will be selected in a proficient manner to deal with balance. I will give every single player their starting items as well. In this tournament there are only 2 rules. No attempt at escaping or it could lead to disqualification, which means being sent to the pit, and you all know what that means. Rule number 2 is, no treason. If you by any chance attempt or successfully betray your fellow teammate you will automatically be sent to the Pit.ââ
As he hands out the items, 2 bodyguards come out from the back, with what seems to be badges in their hands. ââThese badges will represent your team, they are color coded. They can also be modified to say your teamâs name if you choose one. If you do not choose any name, we will put a number on the badge accordingly.ââ He hands out the badges to everyone. The bodyguards escort every team to separate rooms. Everyone knows that these are the starting rooms because this is where the show really begins on TV. In this room everyone is introduced and the players can get ready. This room is called: ââThe Podââ

*HP: 100/100 (You cannot earn more HP, this is the max you have, you will be able to heal yourself with certain items, but if it reaches 0 you die.)
*Hunger: 50/50 (Depending on what you choose I will take points off this and if it reaches 0 you will start to starve to death, if you have thirst points you will die slower. You will lose HP according to how I say. You can eat stuff you have in your inventory if edible to regain your hunger points.)
*Thirst: 10/10 (Same as hunger except anything can affect it, such as weather, climate, terrain, etc. If you reach 0 in thirst you will automatically start losing 25 HP for each post you make. I will put it just in case people forget.)
*Items: Survival Knife, 3 Rations[10 Hunger Each], 1 Big water bottle[5 Thirst Each], 1 med-pack (Use it wisely, for emergency only).
*Weapons: None (Other than your survival knife which isn't a very good weapon. You will get some later into the game, possibly.)
*Gear: None (This excludes the clothes on you, obviously. You will get some later into the game, possibly.)
*TEAM: (Put which team you are a part of, this is given to you by Albern)
(Anything that is in parenthesis does not get copied onto your sheet. But anything in brackets does.) Once your are done putting this in you'll also have a decision to make so be ready.
~~~GET READY~~~
You look at your teammate, after about 10-15 minutes of talking you learn a little about each other. You know that this is the only person you can trust throughout the competition, no one else.
You look at a timer up on the corner of the wall; it is at 1 minute and falling. Albern is heard over a speaker ââGet ready players the doors will open in 1 minute! Once they open you must go out, you cannot stay in The Pod because the room will be lit in flames and the doors will close after 3 seconds. This year we are starting out with a surprise, I bet you will all love it.ââ An obvious evil laughter is heard over the speaker as his last words are said, ââGood luck and to all a prosperous journey!ââ
As the counter reaches 30 seconds you grab your small backpack and prepare to leave ââThe Podââ. 10.. 9.. 8.. as the timer goes down your heart starts beating rapidly, your palms are sweaty and youâre shaking. You get a hold of yourself and get ready to leave. 3.. 2.. 1.. The doors open. As soon as you see the doors open you immediately start running but both you and your partner stop and look around to see that you are enclosed by walls and paths. You are in shock as to why this is... Seeing as how itâs usually open field with a high thin metal fence blocking the path to the other players. It seems as if you are in a maze, the walls are covered in long spiky branches and reach at least 60 to 100 feet high...
After a while you recover from the shock and continue on. As you continue you end up at an intersection. You can go left, right or straight. The wall also seems climbable.

I also vote to eliminate the "Hunger" and "Thirst" stats.
Ok if I get 2 more people who wish to eliminate it I will. I just think it had to the whole survival deal. You aren't just going to be fighting, you are going to have to survive in the wilderness.
Also I will keep tabs on everything, trust me I'm pretty organized.
WHOA. epicGAMEking is playing? He's been the best player in my RPG for 20 pages now. Team change PLEEEEEEEEEEZ.
And sorry I won't do this. The reason being is because I matched everyone up accordingly to their bios and athletic abilities, they will all weigh in later on.
Also just to make things clear you do not have to make decisions with your teammate, just make your own.
The reason there are teams is because it will be necessary towards the more major part of the RPG. So let's say one goes left and one goes right, I'll allow it, eventually they will find each other again, so don't worry.
In that case, I call first on getting a cage match with him. If that ever happens.
Haha don't worry I'll take that into account and make it interesting.

~You make a swift turn left and continue on. As you continue your way down the path you sense that something bad is going to happen. You nod and continue on. As you go on you notice on the right side of the wall a light illuminating some sort of entrance. You decide to approach and it's a dead end path with some sort of well in the middle. Light is illuminating from it. There is also 3 small crates 1 on the left, 1 on the right and 1 North-West of the well. There is also a big sign saying, ''This is no Hobson's choice, you decide your fate.''

I hold my combat knife in an icepick grip and head left.
~You calmly walk the path on alert, from what you have seen on the show from the very few times you watched it, you know that anything can happen at any given time. As you continue walking you hear a noise coming from the left wall a good 30 feet forward. As you cautiously approach it some type of horrendous monster comes out from the very sharp branches, it kind of looks robotic but also has flesh in some parts, kind of like a cyborg. It has 2 robotic types eyes that are completely dark. It also seems as if it was... drooling. It has some spikes where the fleshy parts of his body are and one of the arms on the creature has a big sharp claw. As you come to a sudden stop it turns to you, looks straight at you and his eyes turn completely bloodshot red. Before you know it he's charging at you.
