i personal dont believe it but many groups have predicted it ex: mayans,hopi indians,the bible St Malachy predicted the world will end with the 112th pope; pope bendict is our 111th pope. Why would all these people predict the same date?
I suppose it makes little difference that the Myans predicted their own demise and then did everything to make sure it happened. The last info I saw on the subject was that there was a severe drought, and they sacrificed people to the gods to end it, and when it failed to end, they sacrificed more people, and then more, until there were no Myans left to sacrifice.

Saw a documentary on the History Channel where they explored a system of caves that are littered with skeletons of sacrificed victims. As the drought got worse, they kept going further back into the cave and sacrificing more and more of their own people. This discovery, coupled with a plague of some sort, may have been responsible for their demise.
it was the ancient civilizations of the South Americas that created a calender that has predicted every lunar and solar eclipse to an accuracy of like 3 seconds, the ancient civilizations also created giant figures of animals and other things in the desert floor that are only visible with airplanes and satellites, the have lasted for 600 years. I really don't believe, but it is an interesting concept.
i will tell you this there is only 1 person that can put the end to the world and that is God and nobody will ever know when the world will end nobody even if they do guess they have no facts to back it up so i say no way of knowing the truf

ok Listen first of all god does exicte because it says so in the bible and the bible is the only trufe left on this earth of history so acurrate so i will have to say that if you read the bible you will see hiw mych truf there is in it and i think you will atomaticly be a beliver
second how do you even know God can do that? and why would he create a world and then destroy it by killing billions of people
he won't he will take the belivers in the church and pick it up into heaven and then he will send in balls of fire and saitins army and gods army will fight and the people that were sinners are going to live among evil and wicked. Also, there will be no need for nything in the world cause saiten will burn everything only leave food for people to eat and the people must have the number 666 on there forehead to bye anything they want wile burning and then after 7 years of torture the ppl that will live trew hunger and not follow saiten will go to heaven and the ppl that lived with the number on there for head will go to hell and will burn forever that should answer your questions.

People who have that mind set are a cause of problems. "Lets get wasted and go race our cars, cus only God knows when I'll die" Well there are a ton of things that you can do to lessen the probability of it happening sooner. If you believe in God or don't believe in god, either way the world that was created or that has evolved over time is, from our studies, based on probability. Either way we can lessen the probability of the end of the world coming, by lessening the chances of it being cause by us humans. Sure we don't know if and when the earth will spontaneously implode, but that is obviously outside of our power. What we can do, is lessen our impact on our demise, and we should.
Theres nothing that bugs me more than extremely religious people that will disrespect their earth and environment because on god will end his life....well wither be skeptical and consider the possibility that there might not be a god, or realize that no matter what you believe in the world we live in is based on rules and probabilities and it has been shown that our choices do have an impact on our world.

um...what? first were saying God only knows because there's a verse in revelation that literaly say's only God knows when the earth will end. So where using this point to say the end of the world being predicted to be in 2012 is not possible because only God knows. Also i can't speak for others but i respect my earth because God made it i want to keep it beautiful. Also most christians aren't the ones who go and get drunk, high ect.
