Today we begin our ultimate quest in service to the almighty Comunidad de Armor! We must suit up in our best Armatars and set out to fight the evil, monstrous beast known as Inactivity. Wield your posts and your threads, for they are the only weapons powerful enough to injure the seemingly invincible beast that rampages through our community.
Today, April 1st, 2013, is the very first day of the War of Falta de Actividad. It's the Armorites against Inactivity. We know the consequences if we are to lose, so we must begin the fight today! However, we must figure out how we're going to do it first!
Our Plan of Action
This war will require the services of all ye loyal Armorites; however, we're going to need backup. If you know someone who has free time and doesn't have to tend to their feudal lords or work in the Gondorian fields, tell them to join our plight!
We're absolutely going to need to cooperate if we're to defeat the evil Inactivity. Though, mere cooperation will only take us so far. We need to develop a clear cut plan to slay the putrid beast!
Sir Salvidian's Proposition
As with any full-scale war, we need a colorful mix of well trained men (and women, as this is an equal society). We need soldiers, bookkeepers, cooks, generals, and equipment operators. I propose we recruit people of all categories and divide them accordingly. After that, we begin our actual plan in dealing with our enemy.
Soldiers
Perhaps the backbone of our army, these men will carry out the actual fighting. They will post in order to directly fight. This rank is open to absolutely anyone and everyone and is a fairly easy field to work in. Being a soldier merely requires you to participate in the forums a bit more than usual. You will also be expected to occasionally report where and when you've posted, but, because this is supposed to be a simple rank, a simple report is all that is needed.
Bookkeepers
The bookkeepers will have a fairly sophisticated role. They will analyze where to attack and they will analyze how to attack. They will create the innovative threads that will be used as weapons. These are the inventors. They will remain in this thread, the Armorites' HQ, and will converse among themselves.
Cooks
The cooks will have a very laid-back role. It is only required that they keep spirits up o the Armorite side. They'll be the comedians, the musicians, and, ultimately, the entertainers. They are required to crack jokes on a day-to-day basis just to keep morale gong strong.
Equipment Operators
These men ensure that the threads and posts are working. If they aren't, they are to inform the bookkeepers and work alongside of them using their on-the-battlefield experience to help the bookkeepers develop better weapons.
Generals
The generals will carry out the most sophisticated role of all: they will ensure that everything runs smoothly. Their mission is to give input towards those who need a boost. They'll also control recruitment. They will be the leaders of the Armorites.
Recruitment
Recruitment will be easy: sign up by saying what role you want and check back to see if a general has approved.
In Summary
We'll be fighting Inactivity by building an army! Most of this will be based on Improvisation, and it'll be a fun (I hope) experience.
Get to it men! If you have a question, I'll answer it! HOORAH!
Yes and yes. You might want to check up on the bookkeepers once in a while too because you have very similar roles. By the way, see what role Patrick has.
I wish to volunteer as a 5-star general, on the grounds that I've defeated over 11,000 enemies on my own over the years and have led many others to conquer thousands more.
Put me down as a bookkeeper as well. Innovative threads are my specialty, when I actually get around to making them. Which will be more often from now on.
Men! We have received a telegram from general Dapro:
Hmmm... I don't know. Maybe we could like have a thing where the generals have to find one world topic per day and post it. Then the subjects will have to discuss about it... That's all my creative juice for now. ^^
Fellow generals! BK's! EO's! What do we think of this? Shall we proceed with the strategy or not?
Hrm... I really don't know about this. Most world topics really only last a day to a couple weeks at most, and us EO's being charged with maintaining the activities in these threads... Doesn't that kind of put a lot of pressure on us? I mean, it's not easy to keep discussion going on something that people could care less about after two weeks. (I hope you see the point I'm trying to make.)
All in favor of proceeding with general Dapro's strategy,
Sire' I agree on general Dapro's strategy
This could be a good idea
Methinks...this
and all opposed,
but I think it would be limited
I really don't know about this
Avast! What be this? Mixed results? Hmm, it seems we need to be decisive on this order. I am in favor of EO xeano's point that it's difficult weaponry to use, but on the other hand I see great potential in the land of WEPR; however, I must argue with EO xeano: surely you agree that if a new topic were to be posted about everyday on a single thread in the land of WEPR that it may bring sufficient results? Surely it would not be a bore if something new was talked about daily? Perchance it can be reconsidered?
My question for the stratagem: Is it one thread per day, and we take turns..or all one per day?
Also..it does have its limits..though we could split up the sections.. Sal - WEPR Myself - Pop media Ernie - Tavern
I actually like the idea...yes the topics would wear out in due time..but it offers a great deal of ammo that would also keep a steady trickle of threads for activity. Plus, when a topic does wear out..there are other active threads to distract the disappearance of that thread
Now (and aren't you guys glad you have me as strategist? haha) we need to talk about our EO's. The 3 we have now should work fine (R2 and xeano would most likely attempt to bump activity themselves before issuing a warning to us bookeepers/generals..while Patrick would give an in-depth analysis on the lost activity in a thread)..but we need another one..preferably one that could work very well within the ranks of the WEPR As it stands..I see it as so (most effectively) Flash - All 3, but primarily Patrick Video Games - Primarily xeano, a bit from R2, little from Patrick WEPR - none Popular Media - All 3 Tavern - All 3
Now..I also will state that I will keep watch of the 2 cooks, ironblade and light_chaser..to make sure they are living up adequately to their duties. It may seem like an easy task..but I'm holding it to a standard, because of the morale effects it can have..and man is morale such an important thing
I see great potential in the land of WEPR...surely you agree that if a new topic were to be posted about everyday on a single thread in the land of WEPR that it may bring sufficient results?
The plan could work, but a new thread everyday... In a month that would mean 30+ threads that we EO's have to maintain and keep working smoothly every month. How would we go about this? Do we have to worry about every thread created by this project? Must we continue beating a dead thread to get life out of it?
Surely it would not be a bore if something new was talked about daily?
Of course not. New subjects and ideas prevent such boredom.
Perchance it can be reconsidered?
Well, let me sum it up my argument real quick. Do we EO's have to continue to maintain some old thread from a month ago? I mean, if in the WEPR alone we had 30+ threads a month on top of the rest of the community... That would dump a pretty heavy load on us (Patrick, R2, and myself.)
Ragh! The ravages of discrepancies in - yeah I'm done with that. I can only be cheery for so long.
@World Events thread stuff Actually we would only have 1 thread for all the topics, not 1 thread each. For some reason my medieval talk had trouble getting that point across. Anyhow, I was thinking we could have a thread titled, "Daily World Events Thread" or something along those lines. Then, once a day, by some organizational system, we would have one of us post a new topic for the natives* to talk about. Obviously 1 thread per 1 topic would be way too much.
@pang Me gusta mucho. Keep at it, dear boy! For the WEPR, I think you or me would be good. You're a bit more familiar in the area than anyone else participating, but I can adapt to anywhere if needed. We should take that idea of "You go here and you go here" and do something with it. I don't know what though.
For travel threads, I recommend a site called lonely planet, tis what I use for my school projects.
Yeah, a travel thread would be cool. "light_chaser's travel destination of the week" or something. It's unique.
You're a bit more familiar in the area than anyone else participating, but I can adapt to anywhere if needed.
Out of everyone here..we 2 are the only ones really familiar. The difference is..although I'm more active in the section (plus..I lurk all over it too)..you are a lot better with explaining threads with OP..and that is a community where a good OP and engaging OP is desired
We should take that idea of "You go here and you go here" and do something with it. I don't know what though.
Organization, of course! Once the "army" gets to a reasonable size..I can split up members of each rank to different sections (of course, they can go to all sections, but have focus on designated section) based on where they'd best fit
