I played a flash game for a few minutes a year or two ago, and I'm trying to find it again. I'd probably say its genre was adventure. I honestly don't remember the goal of the game, as I didn't make it much past the character creation. Most games don't have you create your own character though, and the art style was very distinct(see below). Another thing I remember is that between levels, you were put into a room where you could see other players' characters who had just finished the same level.
