How would you define love? Is it when you really like someone? Is it when you know that that particular person is the one you will spend the rest of your life with? Or could love be with something else, as in you love your X-Box?

Give me your opinions on this discussion of love.

Wait I remeber this being done in the "Tarvan" so are you the same guy? I mean the first three sentences seem the same way that the other one started.

(Correct me if Im wrong)

--------------On topic-------------

Love is all kinds of things, love can almost be anything. Like when someone loves another person, thats love, and there can be love as in you love your pet, but not the same kind of "love" as you would love anothere person. (to many loves used in that sentence)

And there can be the love of things such as you loving your X-BOX 360, so what I mean is that there is lots of loves, or in a better phrase, "LOVE CAN BE ANYTHING"....

:P

Love is many things, theres two kinds of love, unconditional and conditional.

Unconditional is where if something were to happen you would stop loving it. Like ones love for thier xbox would be gone once the newest system came.

Conditional is where you love something no matter what. Like a love for a family member or you wife/husband (if its not conditional then you shouldnt be married).

Love represents a range of human emotions and experiences related to the senses of affection and sexual attraction.[1] The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure to intense interpersonal attraction. This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.

As an abstract concept love usually refers to a strong, ineffable feeling towards another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

Love is the thing that pulls everything together tightly enough so that mutual affection is possible and Love is the thing that pushes everything apart far enough so that mutual fascination is possible. Love is omnipresent bubble bath in which all things are immersed, as one and as many.

Kahlil Gibran had this to say of love:

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

Love is like a desire. You need and want something so you have great feelings for it.

I love love... haha. I really can't explain it either. It's like a great feeling that comes inside you and you can't explain the feeling.

I can try to explain my thoughts on love, but I am not sure that many other people will understand.

Love has been overexaggerated through time. Some may say that they love their phone, Ipod, etc. I see love as only to another human be it homosexual or heterosexual. If one person has so much feelings for a certain person, and can't live without that person, I may consider it love. If you are away from that specific person for a long period of time, and you are sad of their abscense, then you might be in love. It just has so many criteria, but it has to be TRUE......

To love is not the same as to like. You can still love someone, say, your grandparents, even if you don't necessarily like them. This is a key fact in relationships (and boy, have I studied the topic of relationships).
