? I guess and if I'm reading this well (and unless someone here wants to correct me -- I am pretty new on the block ), you should really be asking this of Mochi Games?

I always feel bad blocking ads...

But for the flash-based ads, yes they do take up resources and can slow the game.

Hmm, yes, perhaps; although I think the onus shouldn't be on users to keep the web running, and at all costs. In other words, let developers come up with ways to handle it fairly and transparantly and inobtrusively. No, can't say I lose any sleep over it.

That being said, for instance Adblock Plus https://adblockplus.org , highly popular it seems at least with Firefox users and which I so happen to use , does come with the option to allow what they term "acceptable ads," and which is switched on by default, though it can be turned off. (ABP is currently available only for the Firefox, Chrome and Opera browsers.)

In other words, I guess the community does recognize that site owners need a buck to crack for a living and try to come up with ways to accommodate this, but the question is more one of how (and what, when and if).

To come back to the question, if flash ads cause people's systems to freeze up, that is obviously bad implementation of a badly thought-out approach.* I can give you the link to a good article in Dutch** on how the massive advance of Flash objects alone causes an incredible extra load on the entire world wide web, and so certainly on what is demanded of individual home users. More so the irony, of course, if it hinders people where they come explicitly to play Flash content.

* By developers as a whole, I mean. This isn't a stab at the site keepers here, and I have absolutely no reason to.

** In fact let me just drop it here, for those who do happen to read it: http://www.lowtechmagazine.be/2010/11/trage-computer-energieverbruik-advertenties.html .

... And then Woops, Amaranta, I think you meant to reply to this one: Do Flash-Ads Interfere with Flash-Games? http://armorgames.com/community/thread/11725246/do-flash-ads-interfere-with-flash-games , and so I then to you.
