I think I would choose youtube over metacafe because there is a bunch of stuff on there that is getting pretty famous. Much of it is funny too, or if you need trailers for movies or games they have it on there.

Youtube, not because it is popular, because it has quality videos!

Youtube s just all around easier to use and understand. I personally have never used met cafe unless forced to.

Well obviously since I haven't heard of metacafe youtube wins. Metacafe sounds like a cheap imitation of youtube like Facebook did to myspace or myspace did to facebook.
