Not true, my friend, you can train a dog that the scent of oranges = food dish, so that when ever he smells oranges he thinks he is going to get food. CATS are better than dogs. Dogs suck. With dogs YOU need to put them in a Kennel with cat's You can leave them home and he will be fine. Just leave him plenty of food and water.
Cats all the way! Dogs are affectionate but harder to be around because the big ones are big and the little ones yip all the time like you're trying to murder them or something. Cats (at least mine) are amiable as long as you are and make great pets.
Random thing: my cats are more protective than my dog was. When the doorbell rings, my cats run to the door growling, and when whoever it is enters, the cats sniff he or she for a good five minutes. My dog, on the other hand, would welcome anyone (and she was a great dog, don't get me wrong) without a warning.
