Greetings profile artists,

Many of you will have noticed some new changes to your profile. Pieces of it missing or busted. This is due to new security restrictions put in place. For a long time now we've turned a blind eye to some of the HTML and website breaking alterations of profiles because they did no harm, but that all changed yesterday due to a user who put malicious code on his page and asked people to visit it.

Since then we have removed most ways to customize your profile. The current code that can be used is Italics, Bold, Quotes, Images, and links to inside Armor Games. If you have particular questions about what you can/can't do - you can ask them in this thread. If you could do something before, and you really want to still be able to do it - let me know and I'll see if I can help make it right.

This wasn't a decision made lightly, the whole team stood around and debated the change - but when it came down to it the security of our users and Armor Games is above any sort of decoration a profile may have.

Still, I'm sorry to those profiles that were altered.

Yes, we caught it before it became an issue.

Well, it'll suck trying to get info out in WEPR now. "It says so right at a specific article that I can't link to". How convincing.

Admittedly, that's a minor drawback.

I can neither confirm nor deny that a system to handle this is issue may or may not have been spoken off.

Testing FORUM external link because BB Code =/= HTML.

If the above test works, then that won't be a problem. Only profiles can have HTML code.

Update (I wish there was post editing): The test did not work.

So external links outside of Armor Games don't currently work, but there is talk about a White List of certain sites that will be allows. Past links to those website will also come back. Feel free to recommend some in the thread.

ROFL, now that is really funny.

I just found one of these "full of links" ad-spam-threads (and report it to DayCee^^)... the thing that let me laugh is: Now, because of the blocking links, they only leave blank threads.^^

That's a very pleasant side-effect, I have to add. Although I am sure that it won't stop them for a bit.

Oh man... This link thing is gonna suck for some threads. I think we need to have some sort of way to make people like "verified" so they can post links and HTML in the profiles.

Can mods and admins still post links?

So right now we can't, I've spoken with the team though and we're going to be opening up links again soon. Likely Monday.

I just checked this thread, and the links have already been re-enabled.

I can only say this struck me as a security hazard ever since signing on here, and so was rather bemused by it; so can only applaud it.

I noticed at what must have been around the same time then, I guess, post layout going hayward; figured it would be resolved. Will call in if any major complaints there.
