Over population is a problem that is going on. Some countries, like China, have a law in effect about how many kids can be born per couple. Some places, such as India, have way to much population, with no laws to help it. The really only way to stop or slow down overpopulation is to enforce laws saying a couple may only have at max 2 children.
Oh hey, we've had this thread before! But it's way long in the past, so let's start it up again.
Here are some suggestions which I make no claims to endorse:
1) Birth control. 2) Voluntary human extinction 3) Underground conspiracy to perpetrate a cataclysmic act of global terrorism.
Okay, that's getting disturbing :P
My real suggestion is altering the normative perspective on childbearing, separating it from the notion of marriage and monogamous relationships. It should be turned back into a civic duty (perhaps even with certain qualifications, though I'm skeptical about this part) as in the times of Ancient Greece, so that we can further implement an integrated community-centered approach that will boost the efficiency of each nation's infrastructure.
It has been effect for a long time. However, you are right. The results are horrible. Although India will overtake China's population VERY soon, the Chinese Gov't is still trying to enforce this law. People in China are still having multiple kids, and just throwing them into adoption.
And to flappy's question, i was thinking more of perhaps you can have children of the same age, since they're obviously twins, trips, etc, and you can't do anything about it.
For instance, you can have tripletts, but, you can't have a 10 year old, 13 year old, and 16 year old.
What I'd also be interested in is how having kids in a single, presumably nuclear family of the same age and generally singular in number would affect the generational social dynamics.
Am i supposed to google this? Because i got lost. All i know is that however painful it is to reduce human life, it has to be done or else the world's resources will run out...
