This would also allow users to have a better overview of the current situation. And secondly I'm sure there are people who just love statistics if nothing else.
We used to have this feature, but it was removed due to lag some time in 2009, if I recall correctly. It was a great feature for finding out which moderators were online at any given time, but as I remember, it also encouraged chat-spamming. Now that AP is gone, people are much less encouraged to chat-spam for a few extra points, but the lag may still be an issue if AG were to bring back this feature.
As long as we add a toggle in the profile to disable/enable 'Invisible' mode. I'm not a fan of people knowing when I'm online or not online. Perpetual mystery is my thing.

Certainly for mods, can (and will) lead to being inundated with PM's as soon as you pop up online, and certainly if and once those ever get introduced.
But as an optioonal function, sure, it gets my vote
