Your online save is automatically activated when you are logged into this website, but... this only means you can save game progress online for the games that have this feature, not for the games that save locally on your computer. =)

I checked for you the first time you asked; I'm not sure if I get the question right, but it seems the game starts with just a one or perhaps a few heroes; some others become available after completing an X nr. of levels, while others need to be bought.
I play in this game some time (almost finished) and I have 3 hero available. So this info "available with online save slot" is wrong. I should buy them, so this is bug in the game? The info should be "buy hero" or something like this? Where I can buy other hero? This button is not available is not the link to place where I can buy them, probable should be.
? I guess they only become available (the paid heroes, too) provided you log into the game.
Doing so to check for you, I get one hero available. Some others are marked locked, if you click on them, they tell you they become available after level X. Presumably you have a few of those.
Some others that show as available, if you click on them, they will say "Get it now! $ XYZ." Clicking on that message takes you to some online payment options.
Seems clear enough to me. Since I have no intention of buying them (nor indeed ever engage in these online transactions), I haven't followed through beyond that. But I'd expect it to work.

Hmm. I was gonna give you a screenshot, but it looks like AG will only accept images uploaded to the web, and I'm not about to sign up somewhere for it.
Click on your Captain Blackthorne, in the little line of characters above, in the Hero Room game screen where presumably you are.
He will now appear in the larger game screen underneath. You can't click on him, no. But there's the little yellow caption underneath him, saying "get it now! $0.99." Click this, and presto, you get taken to some payment options.
I don't readily see how AdBlock or somesuch would be blocking this, since it's an in-game function; if you get the game to work, I think it should work.
It probably is quite possible though something blocks your being taken to the payment screen. A good rule of thumb is to temporarily disable any such tools, to see if it helps resolve the issue, and so to figure out where the problem lies.
If you happen to be on Firefox, it comes with the option to (under >Help) restart with add-ons disabled, which should help you to pinpoint such issues.
