just to start it off im going to say there is quite a lot to read here but you should read it all to understand it all.
2025. Something has happened. Definitely not for the better, the world has been plunged into chaos of the virus. what kind of virus, you ask? Vertanium Solanum, a rapidly spreading infectious and extremely contagious virus that stops all organs from functioning, except for the heart. there is no way of killing it. no way of stopping it. no way of destroying it. and, you want to kill yourself before it kills you, because it goes out with a bang. and then it comes back.
Zombies, they said. Kill them, they said. what happens after the virus kills the host? its not death, it just puts its host into a traumatizing coma. the host re-awakens, about 12 hours later, as the heart re-surges. something evil, pure evil, only longing for flesh awakens. Considered a "zombie," they are everywhere, as Solanum has taken a death grip on almost all of society.
now, there isnt much. humans have ran away from the zombies out of fear. towns deserted, pockets of humanity still exist. they arent in highly packed areas, thats for sure, because zombies want flesh. in the cities, the virus spreads. streets are infested with brainless infested creeps, and they wander around aimlessly for more humans to take hosts.
you are a survivor, looking for answers, food, shelter, water, and hope. but there isnt much left. you will have to fight just to survive. no remorse comes your way, no help, other survivors shun or try to kill you. you goal in this life will be to survive.
Character Sheet:
Name: Age: (adult) Gender: M or F Condition: perfect Location: Camp Name: (the name of the camp you have.) Camp Members: N/A (members in your camp. no one but you, at the moment.) Camp Status: N/A (you dont even have one.) Camp Location: N/A ------------------------- Food: 5 (you consume 1 units per day per party member) Water: 10 (you consume 2 units per day per party member) Inventory: N/A (anything in your inventory) Weapons: N/A (anything in your inventory that is a weapon. can be considered 'equipment' Sanity: 100/100 (gain by sleeping. the lower the number, the lower your effectiveness in combat, speed, and awareness.) -------------------------- Allies: none Enemies: none Level: 1 (0/10 XP)
in this game, days will clock in real time (as will periods of night/day based off of what is like where i live). you consume water and food daily, even if you are offline. that makes it so that activity is big part of this game. if you run out of these, you pretty much die. (if either reach 0, members of your party will start dying off in order of least to greatest level, then you). dont run out of food or water.
to keep consistent food and water, you scavenge. you will do this a majority of time in this game. you just go around places looking for ammo, water, and food. sometimes shelter or maybe other people to team up with. however, you must travel between places on foot unless you have a car, which requires gasoline. if your traveling 3 miles back to your camp, it will take a certain amount of time in real life to get there.
IN your camp, you manage food, water, inventory, and you sleep. you MUST sleep in order to survive. the better rested you are the better. you can sleep anywhere, but the only place your guaranteed safety sleeping is your camp. party members will also sleep and take shifts watching the camp.
You dont start with a camp, you have to settle one. once you do, its permanent. so pick where you want it wisely. you will be able to upgrade your camp with things that give sanity bonuses, and eventually crops and water collectors for water. of course, you will be dealing with the undead, which will require fighting, teamwork, some strategy at times, and ammunition. keep in mind you can find them anywhere. they will frequently raid your camp (once every 1-5 days, especially depending on its size and amount of people). it is wise to leave people at your camp, not take all of them on missions for scavenging because they will be able to defend your fort.
you can interact with other people if you wish, real or fake. players can join eachothers camps if they want, or join AI camps. you will also make enemies that want to kill you, but only if you make certain decisions.
you can have relationships in this game and try developing a story, but nothing to far will be mentioned. you wont get a detailed, lets just say, "icture" of everything, but you can certainly try having children to save humanity. its a really open game when it comes to how you play it.
If someone joins your party/camp, they arent guaranteed to stay. they might join your enemies or just leave if they see fit. they could also betray you. its all in the choices you make. on a final note, i will start you off where i want you in the world.
when you level up, you gain combat effectiveness, accuracy, intimidation, attractiveness, scavenge speed, scavenge effectiveness, and new camp options. honestly, you gain a little more of everything. i threw statpoints out the window. Party members will also level up and gain the same stuff.
so get out there. slay some zombies, make a camp, make a story, and scavenge everything.
"Lets do something stupid" I fire a shot into a nearby zombie, then walk/jog to a farther building. (Slow enough I wont get tired, fast enough I can easily outrun them)
Also, I have some suggestions. Shouldn't stuff like these below also increase sanity? ~ Interacting with other humans ~ Listening to music/Playing music ~ Having "Feasts" ~ Praying/Meditating

good suggestions, but sanity is a sleep based calculation. you must sleep to gain it.
you walk out of the parking lot of the factory. in front of you is a street. along the streets are shops and such.
Name: Shadow (just Shadow, he changed his name for it caused a memory trigger of the most violent zombie attack he was in.) there is simply nothing interesting in the field. it looks surrounded in all directions by a forest.

I look for something to cut some of the trees down, because if you can cut some of the trees you can make buildings out of them.
Also I'm sorry I intimidated you spike, I really hate it when I join a game just before it dies, because I barely have time to see if I like it or not.
there is some rustling in a nearby bush. nothing on the street moves but a whisper of wind.

the field has nothing that can cut a tree down. just weeds growing tall.
