Greetings all!

We're going to be moving all our game comments, profile comments, MMO comments and editorial comments over to Disqus as early as this Friday. Because of this, I wanted to give you a FAQ to help solve any mysteries on the process...

What about Merits?

Merits will not live on our website in the same way, they can't be tied directly into the Disqus system which means they will no longer be comment-based. A simple Merit system will be created on our launch Friday that will grow more robust with time - allowing moderators/admins to merit people directly. Later e-mail notifications will be added to this as well.

You can also "Feature" a comment in Disqus, so that could also be awarded with your merit.

What about non-AG armatars?

A big concession we had to make with the Disqus system is that a Disqus account trumps our normal user accounts. This means users can name themselves whatever they like, and associate any armatar they like to their profile.

There will be alterations in our rules that discuss impersonation of other users, especially Moderators/Admins that will result in permanent bans. Also utilizing any exclusive armatars will result in a warning and possible further punishment.

Guest Accounts?

Guest accounts will be killed on site, and your real account warned. Guest accounts are not allowed on our Disqus comments.

Colored text for Knights/Admins/Moderators?

Not available right now in Disqus. You'll notice our accounts have "Moderator" next to our names. This text may change, but it means that person has moderator powers over Disqus comments.

What about total comment count?

This should be worked on before launch as well, nobody should lose their comment counts, just add on to their total.

What about old comments?

Still unknown the degree we'll be transferring over old comments. I'd love to hear your opinions though. This obviously is very tedious work, but I think me and @boppins agree that certain games (or comments) should make it over.

If you have any more questions let me know below.

Can we go back to normal?

The normal comments are still there.

Hmmm... Maybe it's because I received my first new Disqus comment, but now I'm randomly treated to other people's comments, under the heading of "Also on ArmorGames..."

If that's (Disqus's?) way of generating interest & participation, I think that's awfully misjudged, and will tend to lead to confusion, indeed. People mistaking that for being directed at them & so responding, generally feeling enticed to get involved with inane nonsense, and whatnot.

... Although now when I happen to look at another user's profile who also has no comments yet, that feature is there, too.

So I guess that has been newly added. I don't think it's a good idea, it looks messy and will confuse people.

He's talking about on the comments, which I just tested the @thingamajig and it didn't seem to work.

I dont think they worked in the old comments either.

Has it been explained why at the bottom of the comment section there are random comments from random people that they posted on other random people's profiles?

I was about to ask that as well. That is a bit strange. I'm sure it has something to do with an unknown feature we'll see later that has not yet been perfected.

I don't really understand the reasoning behind which comments are chosen in the "also on Armor Games."

I mean, it's random people with 1 comment on their profile. If it was people with tons of comments, I'd understand. But it's not. Can this be disabled? Cause I logged on today and thought I had 10 new comments.

The fact that Disqus has, for the time being, spawned a ton of YouTube-esque "First!" comments makes me facepalm.

*facepalm*

They have been there since Day One, nothing new....

Not sure if it was asked yet, so apologies if it was, but why are downvotes not counted for the votes?

They're counted towards the overall votes, but they won't be displayed!

Yes, that's correct. Also Moderators/Admins can see who gets downvoted.
