Hi, I am level 3142, and I am going to be the first to get a grade 100 gem.
How did I get specs obscenely high? Well, thanks to this dude over here...
One important thing to note is how to create dual gems. Adding two grade one's them spamming U is losing about 33% special power.
Optimal creation is a G1 of both, combine, make a G2 of each, add one pure to each dual, combine the G3s, duplicate, and repeat with pure G4s, duplicate the 6, etc.
here is the difference at g34: Regular creation: http://prntscr.com/3dgs2c
Special Mix: http://prntscr.com/3dgs6k
Note that the hit count is the same, and the cost to duplicate is the same. This is a difference of 32.9%, and this difference keeps rising at higher levels. It's only a 16% difference at grade 6. It takes a decent amount of time, but it is worth it at ultimate grades (45+).
I now have huge specs. It takes me about 20-30 seconds real life time to get +1 grade. So a minute before +2(needed if want extra specs). I estimate my specs to be about 80% higher than normal, at least blood is.
PS- Level 46 amps got the spec treatment too, they are wicked.
@ Astro, I had played on Haunting with maxed traits. As I didn't think to earn more XP on Looming, I didn't even bother to enrage the waves in endurance. I might have gotten some more points, but that wasn't worth the pain.
And thunder....lol I'm sure you can. You seriously think that would impress me? :P
I have beaten endurance without shrines, which was my goal. BUT: We are all doing what we do based on psoreks math. So it's a question of partly skill but primarily patience. Being aware of that, I regard 'my' accomplishment more as my contribution to a kind of 'teamwork'.
Which is why I find it a bit childish what you write there. Do you always need to be 'the best' or is that only gemcraft? xD
It means that gems that were at a cap before, are now able to fire faster. This means more hits in a given period of time, which for a mana trap gem means more mana, for a kill trap gem means more damage, etc.
@Astroshak: ...which for a mana trap gem means more mana... Doesn't mean, if you farm with lags. There is processing limit on how much mobs can you hit per second. And that depends only on your CPU. So, uncapping do nothing. The only way to really increase manafarm is to simulate extra shots per second (e.g. by multiplying damage)
Lag is your problem. I avoid (as much as practical) gems in towers with thousands of shots per second, to avoid that lag that was present in 1.0.16.
1.0.17 has not lagged for me yet, except for when I've taken a gem out of an amp (its special storage spot) and placed it into a tower to shoot an apparition.
@Astroshak, did you read, what I've written? There is still the same manaleech cap. If you farm without lags, that means you don't reach your manafarm cap.
No,no,no. when I wrote that I was just a teensy bit pissed that you obsoleted the quest I just started YESTERDAY -_-.
Also, psorek, I read the 1.017 update...I thought it said it limited traps & tower both to 2 shots/frame at 1x, 6 / frame 3x, and 18/frame at 9x speed.
Oh I now see - Traps now have increased effective firerate - By the cyan colored explanation, I think now that if speed > 60 shot/sec, it will add additional hits to chain hit - so it can chain same monster lots of times but count as different shot? Eh, now to try it out.
This will increase mana per gem grade by 1.4 * 1.18 so its very good(est values).
However - Is psorek's lesser-hits-per-sec supergem thing still the best, then?
