For those who are interested in heavy beacon farming in GemCraft:Chasing Shadows for purposes of gaining experience......

Here are a few tables I drew up and composed for people who are into beacon farming. The tables show the relationship between the various playing fields and the maximum number of beacons in highest possible concentration that they can spawn when all obstacles (walls, amps, towers, houses, nests, chests, mana shards, etc.) are removed. The actual number will be around 75-80% or so, give or take, from that listed for a given field simply because the beacon placement is random on the field, and thus not very efficient.

To whom it may concern, this is the formula for beacon exp (courtesy of 12345ieee):
xpValue = (70 + WaveNumber * 9) * (1 + rand() * 0.2)
This has to be multiplied for Mana pool, Talisman and Traits bonus to become the one seen in-game.
Endurance resets the WaveNumber counter to 1.

Following are the tables.

@12345ieee: The reduced swarmling trait has a "big" disadvantage: In the late endgame, reaver give about 10-15 percent less beacons, as I can't throw as many g1 gems on them as I can on swarmling waves... In numbers: Per wave (around 850), I miss around 20, 25 beacons á 15.000.000 raw-xp each... So I think, playing all traits maxed (but hatred) remains the best option!

@ogbuehi: Use a black (or white) and yellow gem without a red component to take out beacons. Without chain hit, it won't be able to kill monsters so fast.

I wonder how this table will change with the Steam release. Did I understand correctly that more tiles were added to each map in that version?

As I understand it, the Steam version had its fields edited to match the 16:9 wide screen format I think. So yes, it would seem that there will be more space available to spawn beacons, unless the paths were also altered. Since this Armor Games version will continue to exist as far as I know, and the Steam version will be a stand alone game on that respective platform, I will leave these tables up here in this thread on AG forums as they are. If I go ahead and decide to get in depth with the Steam version, then I will likely make new tables for that Steam version and post them on wherever the Steam game forums are for GC there. I cannot give a time table on this, so don't hold your breath and hope to see new tables there in the first week yet. A lot of other things may have to have time taken to be recalculated too from our other contributing personnel regarding game data or playing techniques, if any of the mathematics or formulas of the game have been changed in the new Steam version. We will all have to see. Good luck to those of you migrating over to Steam shortly here. :-)
