What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence
Those aren't really words of wisdom, they're just an obvious ploy by an antitheist to dismiss theism without having to prove his stance. A rather weak ploy at that considering the fact that a hypothesis is, in essence, an assertion without evidence. If every hypothesis was thrown out without being tested because there's no evidence to support it then we'd never learn anything.
How about a couple from the relatively recently deceased Leonard Nimoy.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.
