Let's be honest here, we all know ArmorGames is dying. The age of online Flash Games are over. All of the Flash Gaming websites like ArmorGames (Newgrounds is a big one) are losing visitors to consoles, Steam, and other free games that the Flash Games here just can't beat *cough(FortNite)*cough. I used to only play games on gaming websites like this and just cycle back and forth between them for new games. It's really sad to see these websites go down like this. It's just that people aren't going to websites to play games as much anymore. Look at Super Chibi Knight 2, the original was put on ArmorGames when Steam wasn't that popular but since it's not that profitable to put a game on websites anymore the developer switched to Steam. I don't blame him or any other developer that decides to put their games on another platform but how long can this really go on for these websites?

@DragonArmor123 Sorry to read you feel this way, but let me assure you... Armor Games is far from dying. New games are launched every week!

Even though developers are abandoning Flash to make their games, following the path Adobe and others have set to stop updating and distributing Flash, there is a new format that is rapidly taking over its place: HTML5. With Unity to build and develop games, the standard in these games is only raised to a higher level. Games look even better, have stronger coding and easier playability overall.

Distributing these HTML5 games has begun during the past year and is steadily increasing since. Just take a look at the last games that were launched here on Armor Games and you will see how many of them are HTML5...

Even though it is true that gamers have shown a wave of moving to other platforms to enjoy their games, it is something that was to be expected at some point. And Armor Games has ventured into this world as well for some time now. Simply check out Armor Games Studios to see what content has been released since the start, Pinstripe being the most recently launched title, on Steam, Xbox One and Playstation 4 even!

This all means that Armor Games is moving towards a strong future and that the free online gaming part in the form of ArmorGames.com can continue to thrive and build steadily next to ArmorGamesStudios.com to ensure a wide coverage of gaming styles.

Thanks for the reply, for all the time I was on ArmorGames (around 6-8 years now), I was unaware of the existence of ArmorGamesStudios.com. I was just a bit pessimistic about ArmorGames since ArmorGames started to lose its visitors and a long time ago a game I really was looking forward for a sequel ; Echoes Operation Stranglehold was presumed dead after no updates for 7 years now?

I specialise in HTML and Java/Javascript (two different things). I could develop a few games if ArmorGames do me a favour in return

I also realised that as computers get way too expensive for *cough* some people (I have an alienware), more and more people are buying stuff like Chromebooks which are solely for simple tasks (I myself also own a Chromebook). A lot of games on ArmorGames are too... modern for some computers to access. Also, people that can afford big fancy pants computers tend to also have the spare change *cough* forty quid *cough* for games on steam. And the people in the middle- a few people- still use great platforms like ArmorGames. Am I right, @MrDayCee ?

@DragonArmor123 There has indeed been a huge shift in the active forum user base a few years ago, but this was mainly because the majority of gamers started playing through other means at the time. This, combined with a certain regular visiting group of users that all left to pursue real life, led to activity on our forums slowing down significantly. But we see a steady -yet still slowly- increase in forum activity again. This may be something to build upon for the near future? We will see...

@jimmyluka1 If you want to talk about game developing and working together with Armor Games, you can best send an email about it to @tasselfoot -our resident game guru- and he can answer any questions or chat with you about this, ok?
As for your summary, I think you stated it quite the way it may be, yes.

I don't think Armor Games is dying, although I do think Flash is being replaced with other kinds of game development software. That's all. I think business wise, there are a lot of options Armor Games can explore.

Hey, how different is developing games in HTML5 from using Adobe Flash-based IDEs? Like I saw a tutorial on YouTube a long time ago, about using citrus engine with Flash in Adobe Flash pro and Adobe Flash Builder. But now it's different, so how is it?
