I think death metal sucks completely. I mean, what do people get out of grunting and screaming? The closest band to death metal that i can listen to is five finger death punch (and new atreyu). The only good death metal band is amon amarth in my opinion because they have cool lyrics and drums. I still hate their grunting and screaming, but they have cool lyrics....
anyway, does anyone else hate death metal? whether you like it or not, post here and tell why either way
Jikek.. The Six Feet Under albums Graveyard Classics 1&2 are tributes to clasic rock songs, done in their own style. Personately I like everything from black metal to blues and death metal is one of the genres I listen the most to (though I tend to listen to melodic death metal)
I was like you. I didn't like it too. Then OPETH changed my life. Its style is something like progressive death metal, with some rock and jazz and many more... Now I see that grunting is a perfect way to make an atmosphere and express emotions...
johnny_p, That is exactly how i got into death metal!! How weird is that?!? I heard opeth's new album "watershed" and the first song was just so beautiful that when it changed to "Heir Apparent" and total death metal I was like, "HOLY CRAP!" That plus opeth is progressive and i love everything progressive...
That being said i only like Melodeath, Tech Death, and Prog Death...its either gotta be tame(melodeath) and the musical talent has to be absolutely f'ing amazing...
yeah, I don't see how any death metal is melodic, and when i said I liked that band amon amarth, i have changed my mind since then. I now completely hate all death metal, except one song, which is a remix of one of my favorites (holy diver by dio). The song is Holy diver by killswitch engage, which has one screaming verse. Also, all death metal seems to be the same. for example:
cool instrumental solo at the beginning scream/grunt for a while almost the exact same instrumental solo in the middle scream/grunt for a while another instrumental solo at the end to wrap it up
I cant say i like death metal. I cant actual hear much difference between one song and another. I like my music bouncy (and I love really cheesy music)
thaggard, Killswitch isn't even close to death metal X( They are Metalcore...huge difference. Death metal is bands like Necrophagist and Children of Bodom. Screaming/Growling vocals=/=death metal Hardcore, Metalcore, Death Metal, as well as many other metal genres have those vocals...
Which brings me to believe that many of ya'll that like "death metal" don't actually like it. Most ppl who like Metalcore don't like death metal and most ppl who like death metal despise metalcore... and of course theirs those of you that hear screaming and go "OMG I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT, SO IT SUCKS, EHHH"...i know very few ppl who have actually opened there minds and tried for a while to like growling vocals and ended up not liking it...Have an open mind, try something thats not mainstream....try some progressive metal...
upmf..i think there are some "dumpheads" in here -.- thaggard53 created a thread: who hates death metal.. and ya guys join and write that u love death metal... upmf creat a own thread where u talk about ure lovly feelings in connection with that^^ I agree with thaggard cause i think death metal suxx and i would get sstupid if i hear it.. if some people like it its ok cause there are a lot of peaople who hates the music i prefer.. but in my opinoin death metal is not a good music
