Whenever I g to my profile i always notice merits and I can never figure out how to get them. Does anyone know how you find out how you get them because there inst a button to see like there are for quests
You can find a basic guide to merits here. In addition to quality game comments, you can sometimes earn merits for certain activities like official contests (used to be some in the AMW section, less now sadly) or for certain specific quests like the Count to 100 quest (link to forum game) or for writing an outstanding game walkthrough (link to game walkthrough forum).
