Hello. Here we go again: Another Holyday game that has reverted to new game. This time it happened right in front of my face: I closed the game window, opened it again, and it sent me straight to new game. Repeated attempts to close and reopen browser, clear the cache, logout and login, and are taking me back to new game.
This time however, there is a potential lifesaver: The game has a Load Cloud button. I suspect that may work. But here's what I'm afraid of: Every minute or so, the cloud save gets auto-overwritten. And new game, frustratingly, has a tutorial which locks every button except the one they want me to click. So if I try to carry through the tutorial until it lets me click the Load button, there's a risk it might overwrite the cloud save first.
Hey @dietonight as with your other thread, I have limited ability to help... all I can do is ping Holy Day to look into it, as I did previously. But since this is a recurring issue for you, and as far as I'm aware none others... is there something that might be going on on your end that's causing this to happen?
Regardless, your best course of action is to contact Holy Day again directly for assistance, as that's all I can do on your behalf as well. I'm sorry this keeps happening for your saves.
@Tasselfoot Well there's the thing I've been afraid about for years: What if I closed the game while it was writing a save file; wouldn't that corrupt the save file? But yesterday, something unusual did happen earlier in the day. Another game, which was running Unity, crashed forcing me to close and reopen. The culprit: Hard disk space running out... a problem that's been gradually lurking closer for a long time, but has recently gotten acute. Could that be the cause?
@HolydayStudios Sorry for the bother, could you look into this?
Good news: Problem is fixed, sort of.
Opening the game on a computer that has never opened the game before recovers the save. It's a few days of progress backwards, but that's nothing compared to losing years.
The one thing that's less than ideal is that I'm afraid of ever again opening the game on the computer that I'd been playing this game on until now, for fear that the corrupted save/new game could overwrite the legitimate save.
Tried the same thing for Holyday City Reloaded. Unfortunately, it still sends me to new game.
One other oddity yesterday and today by the way. Staying auto logged in to armorgames is normally very reliable. But yesterday and earlier today, it wasn't. Maybe it could be related...?
