This is a completely serious club, people who make a decent enough plan will be able to comment and review other plans. Here is some zombie info.

run/walk: they walk

scream/groan: they groan

day/night: All da time babey!

what they attack: EVERYTHING THEY HEAR, OR THAT MOVES!

survivors: very very little, like near 100-1000 people on EARTH

guns: This is real time, being your neighboorhood and everything, you have all the resources you have in your house.

cure: there is none.

where to go: so long as you have a plan to get their, go for it.

how much you can carry: AGAIN, THIS IS REAL TIME

family members: theres a high chance they are zombehs too.
able to join: if you didn't read, just make a good plan.

durability: they can take ALOT of damage, worse than playing last stand 2 with just a pistol for the entire game when the zombies have twice as much life.

doors: they can't work a doorhandle for the mostpart of their brain is already rotted
I am still making my plan right now, but I think some of you can do it. Let the zombie surviving begin!

Yeah, but Strongbow even if we took out 2 then that's one less for you.

Extremely noble sentiment, Timegoesby, and I appreciate the help.
However, your reanimation is simply another zombie to deal with. One more variable that makes MY survival a bit more difficult. I understand the whole suicide thing..I can certainly understand how difficult it would be to make that decision, (and keep in mind, MY decision did not come lightly), but you must think of the greater good if you had no options left.
Zombies can stay animated as long as the body has not decayed completely. The virus ensures that the host does not decay at normal levels. Therefore, a zombie can potentially "live" for 2-3 years. Even if it cant walk, it can still BITE.

As for the rescue scenario, my reaction would depend a lot on my own survival. As much as I would hate seeing anyone be devoured, Im certain that I would have seen it many times before. So, I would have to make sure that a few things were thought over:

-How close am I to the victim?
-It takes ONE bite from ONE zombie to doom the victim, and he/she is up against 8. If Im not quick enough, I may have to deal with 9.
-Hand to hand combat would be short and sweet. If I were to react, I would have to be CLOSE enough to make a difference.

-How could I assist?
-Shooting in the direction of the meelee is NOT advised.
-Joining the fray would be alright as long as the odds are in my favor. 8 to 2 is sketchy at best.

-What would be the outcome?
-Helping someone is always good, but how will it help my survival as opposed to the danger involved? Remember your survival is absolutely KEY. Rambos are that much more likely to join the undead as slay the undead.

Groups are convienient for long term survival. Having another to pull guard or come up with plans takes a lot of stress off of the individual. However, YOU are no good to yourself dead or turned.

Survive...dont ever forget that!

As for me I would run incloser picking off the zombies farther away from him, and maybe distracting the zombies to help him out more, then I would pull out my crow bar and crack some skulls, but if it started to go bad I would run!

Yeah I would help, because I would want someone to help me if I was in the jam.

Hey Thoadtheroad, yo know what would make this even better? Maybe you could try posting a Zombie role-plaing game in the Tavern? Or maybe someone else reading this would like to. I would definetely participate. If someone doesn't know what I'm talking about by saying role-playing game, look at Devoidless' game in the tavern. It's the second thread. It would be cool to have something like that but with zombies. (and also more realistic, I.G. no elfs and magic and stuff like that, something in modern times)

@Timegoesby: I agree, to a point.

Dont misunderstand me. Im not heartless, by any means. My position is always survival-oriented. Helping someone else is human nature, for the most part. However, putting yourself in danger of that kind, (8 against 2..maybe 1 if youre not fast enough), is not helping. Remember, you need only to be bit ONCE, and youre life is over. You WILL die and reanimate. Keep also in mind that if a zombie scratches you, or your victim accidently hits you, you cant just go to the hospital. Infection from wounds will kill you much slower than the virus but just as certainly.
I will never, ever say that you shouldn't help another. If I can hold a defensive position, treat the injured, make decisions or help to clear an area for a defense, I will be the first to voulenteer. HOWEVER, if I notice some gent charge into a pack of zombies with a crowbar, I'm probably going to question his cognative abilities, not to mention his worth to our mutual survival.

Strongbow, what you said is true, But if he was being surounded what was he gonna do? run right into a zombie? NO I would fire my gun to try and draw there attention to me. Then he could kill a few while they have there backs turned. And Then it might not be as hard.(:

@skater, Timegoesby: That is extremely admirable.

Think about this, though. If 8 zombies were converging on 1 person and you shot in the direction of the crowd, youre banking on several things:
-Every zombie will immediately turn on a more distant target and "forget" that the closer survivor is there.
-That your shots are accurate enough to take out zombies without putting the target at risk of bieng shot him/herself.
-That the victim is in good physical condition enough to not only fight off an 8 zombie horde with a crowbar, but assist you as well.

That, gents, is a lot of variables. Depending on how close you were, some of the zombies might have been coming to you in the first place. They are NOT intelligent. They will attack the closest target to them. Keep in mind that if 8 are attacking 1 person, there WILL be more about and you may be drawing more to yourself as well as him/her.
Again, the scenario has to be analyzed carefully. It is extremely admirable to attempt to help someone else, but you must not consider it a RULE. Perhaps the victim will turn on you afterwards, or steal your things, or have a bite and not tell you about it?
You must put yourself in survival mode and throw away rules belonging to the former world you lived in. THAT world has been destroyed and replaced by the reanimated corpses of people who possess no shreds of who they were before. They have one purpose: to eat you. They feel no cold, they do not need 90% of their bodily functions, they do not feel pain, remorse or mercy. They dont even digest the meat they consume. It builds up in their tracts till they burst or it forces its way out, and THEY STILL EAT MORE.
Once you truly understand the nature of what youre up against and how the odds stack against you on a GOOD day, you will understand why I consider SURVIVAL the first and foremost rule of thumb.

Excellent, gentlemen.
I hope that if you ever run into that scenario, you end up alive with your partner. Id hate to have to kill TWO newly reanimated zombies...Id have enough to deal with as it was.
----------------------------------------
Its been 3 months since the Panic. Your current defensive position has been compromised and youve been forced to move. Your initial town is dry, save for the undead that wander the streets. You take what little provisions you have, load them on your bicycle and head out. Dodging lunging corpses and rotting bodies, you work your way to the town limits. Ahead of you is the interstate, a tangled mass of discarded vehicles, forgotten supplies and the occasional moan of the undead.
You pause on an overpass, take a swig out of your waterbottle and peer at the threadworn AAA map propped on your handlebars.
You have two towns to choose from. One of them, Handlerville, is a fairly rural town of around 15,000.
It sports a large hardware store and a newly opened grocery store.
The other town, Smithtown, is a bit larger, formerly supporting nearly 55,000 residents and having all of the immenities you would expect from a town of that size, including a hospital, shopping mall, and a radio station.
As you start pedaling again, instinctively dodging the hands that occasionally swipe at you from some of the stranded cars, you decide what to do next....

Where would you go, Smithtown or Handlerville? There is no wrong answer, although your choices, as always can effect the probability of survival.
Think on this one, survivors. I look forward to reading some honest responses.

First off Strongbow a nice scenario.

Since you say that I am by myself I would go to the smaller Handlerville, just for the chance of less zombies.

If I was in a group I would head to the bigger Smithtown were you could watch each others backs.

What would you do Strongbow?

I have a plan, but Id like to see what others think before I discuss it in detail.
You can be assured that I know what I would do, with and without a group.
